Last weekend we hosted our 17th annual Pink Invitational gymnastics fundraising event, presented by Daiichi Sankyo US. Over 4,300 athletes competed in a custom GK leotard at the Pennsylvania Convention Center symbolizing their united effort to support those affected by breast and ovarian cancers. The Pink Invitational is the largest gymnastics fundraising event in the nation, and 100% of proceeds benefit Unite for HER. Together, over $775,000 was raised to support our outreach programs for breast and ovarian cancer patients nationwide. These funds will be used to provide integrative therapies, services, support, and education directly to patients at no personal cost. Last week we were honored to host members of the Unite for HER Task for Women of Color at our new Malvern office. Members toured the new space and packed care boxes for our national Wellness Passport Program and Empowered Living programs. The programs will support over 7,000 breast and ovarian cancer patients nationwide this year. Founded in 2020, the Unite for HER Task for Women of Color provides guidance on Unite for HER programming and strategic initiatives to improve access, equity, and cultural considerations for program members of color. Philadelphia is home to the Pink Invitational, the largest gymnastics fundraising event in the nation, where 100% of proceeds benefit Unite for HER. This event is hosted by AJS Pancott Gymnastics Ctr and staffed by hundreds of volunteers, as well as Unite for HER and AJS Pancott team members, who make the event a success each year. Volunteers assist in everything from greeting guests and distributing admission materials, to selling raffles, assisting at awards, and assisting with the competitions themselves by helping with timing and music. No experience is necessary, and training is provided! Volunteers also support the event by baking items for sale at the event and donating items for the silent auction. The Unite for HER Wellness Program began 15 years ago when we hosted our first 'Wellness Day' for 23 breast cancer patients at Paoli Hospital, just a mile from downtown Malvern, PA. Today, we are honored to call Malvern our permanent home. Our new office is located at 22 E. King Street and contains space for volunteer box-building events, wellness events, private offices, and ample storage for our outreach programming and fundraising initiatives. This year we will support more than 7,000 individuals affected by breast and ovarian cancers, providing education, restorative integrative therapies and services, and loving support to patients nationwide, all from our new Malvern home. Our team spent last week at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium in Texas for a powerful week of continued education, collaboration, advocacy, and community. UFH staff participated in a series of panel discussions and presentations, including a special discussion on the impact of the "Care for HER" program (in partnership with Touch, The Black Breast Cancer Alliance) and how integrative care and culturally tailored nurse navigation can improve patient outcomes. #SABCS #SABCS24 #breastcancerawareness #breastcancer #breastcancersupport
