At United Way of the Black Hills we we work to advance the common good by focusing on education, income and health. The United Way movement mobilizes members of the Black Hills community to action—to give, advocate and volunteer—to improve the conditions in which they live. The United Way of the Black Hills serves four different local communities: the Northern Hills, Sturgis, the Southern Hills and Rapid City where the office is.

????Our crystal ball reveals exciting news: $587,000 in grants that will transform our community! We are pleased to reveal four September grants destined to make a piece of our world a brighter place: - United Way of the Black Hills – Black Hills Reads: $362,000 in two-year continued Early Learning support for the Black Hills Reads program. - United Way of the Black Hills– Leadership Development: $150,000 in two-year Basic Needs funding for Nonprofit 360: professional development programming for local nonprofits. - VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE INTERVENTION PROGRAM INC/Artemis House: $65,000 in one-year Basic Needs funding for security upgrades to their shelter building. -Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation: $10,000 in one-year Economic Mobility support for a Native American College and Career Fair through the Indian University of North America.

The United Way of the Black Hills Day of Caring is one of my favorite events of the year! Not only because I absolutely love spending time with the BP teams around the Northwest, but also because this is a cause that’s just good for the soul?? Yesterday, the local Bluepeak team took time out of their busy schedules to help out with various projects at Storybook Island in Rapid City. Storybook Island is a children's amusement park built in 1959 with playgrounds and attractions based on locations and various characters found in children's books. This park is near and dear to the hearts of all of us here in the Black Hills area! #everyconnectionmatters #internetforall

It's United Way of the Black Hills Month of Caring! Last week, our Rapid City office volunteered for Early Childhood Connection's garden project. We spent an afternoon cleaning out weeds, dismantling old beds, and tidying up the space in the 95-degree heat! Last week, the KVG team headed over to the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store in Spearfish and grabbed some paint brushes for our Month of Caring assignment! We spruced up a shed and turned some carpet scraps and unusable paint into what we call an "impromptu masterpiece" Thank you to the United Way of the Black Hills for the opportunity to give back to our community! #monthofcaring #unitedway #teamwork
