?? Celebrating #ImpactInAction with the EY Digital Divide Take Action Fund, powered by United Way of Greater Cincinnati! ? We’re spotlighting our incredible partner Uptown Consortium, Inc. (UCI), a driving force behind digital inclusion in Avondale, a neighborhood with significant barriers to digital access. ? Through a powerful collaboration with the Avondale Library, UCI the Consortium strategically leveraged EY funding to provide critical workforce digital resources and hands-on support during professional development sessions — helping community members build skills for success. ? ?? "I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to connect our Avondale community with library resources in innovative ways. True community thrives when knowledge and resources are shared, empowering individuals to enhance their lives and grow together,” said Tiffani N. Carter, MA, MLIS, Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library Avondale Branch Manager.? ? ?? Read more: https://bit.ly/4ilHQUQ?? ? Last week, I had the privilege of testifying at the Ohio Statehouse alongside my colleague Hailey Barr, MPS on behalf of United Way of Greater Cincinnati and Ohio 211. We’re advocating for statewide funding to ensure every Ohioan has access to 211 — a First Call for Help. Ohio remains one of the last states without full 211 coverage, leaving too many communities without a trusted place to turn in times of need. Proud to stand with partners across the state to push for this critical investment.

Last week, two United Way of Greater Cincinnati staff members — Dr. Gavi Begtrup, Director of 211 Innovation and Hailey Barr, MPS, Public Policy and Advocacy Manager — testified before the Ohio House of Representatives Children & Human Services Committee in support of Ohio 211’s state budget request.? ?? 211 is the number to call for housing, utility assistance, child care, transportation and other vital needs our community seeks. No matter the situation, 211 staffers listen, identify underlying problems and connect people in need with community resources and services that improve their well-being.? ?? Currently, 30 Ohio counties can’t access 211 resources, meaning 1.5 million Ohioans do not have the support they desperately need. With funding support from the state, Ohio 211 would be able to expand capacity, ensuring all Ohioans benefit from this essential service.? ?? ?? Debt makes it harder to build wealth, invest in education and break cycles of financial hardship. But here’s some good news: United Way’s Free Tax Prep can help keep more money in your pocket! ?? The average American spends over $275 per year on tax prep fees — money that could be used to pay down debt, start an emergency fund or cover essential expenses. Our Free Tax Prep service helps keep more money in the pockets of low-to-moderate-income taxpayers. ? Learn more: uwgc.org/taxes

Join United Way of Greater Cincinnati and United Way Worldwide in the Child Tax Credit (CTC) Week of Action by letting your elected officials know you support an expanded CTC. ?? Act now: https://bit.ly/ctc-uww Urge Congress to prioritize the expansion of the CTC for children who receive a partial credit or no credit at all because their families’ incomes are too low. These families face the greatest challenges in making ends meet, and expanding the CTC would not only improve families’ ability to put food on the table but also benefit the economy and spur job growth. ?? It takes a few seconds to submit a letter of support to your elected officials!
