Today is our 18th Annual WiLL (Women Living Leadership) Luncheon! We have a capacity crowd for lunch ready to be inspired by local women doing good works and by Lisa Mensah, #OCF CEO, our keynote. And each year on this day, we have WiLLful Men who stand with women in our community to support women and girls reach their own next best level. This year, I've asked a key supporter of WiLL, a former campaign chair and a former United Way board president share why he is a WiLLful man. “At first glance, I viewed WiLL as an outsider and too literally. Women raising funds, advocacy, and support for other women was not my thing as a man. Upon reflection, I recognized that I had a role to play. Given the opportunity to be a WiLLful man, my financial donation could be used to amplify the work of these women helping women. Given the opportunity to be a Willful man, my financial support could honor the women in my life while also recognizing the special role of women in our community. During my term as our United Way’s board president, I also had the privilege to attend monthly WiLL council meetings. I witnessed the thoughtful and heart-led discussions of women in need across Jackson County. I heard not only their needs but the solutions provided by our WiLL Council. They collaborated with each other and with other nonprofits to help women needing help at a critical point in their life. Best of all, in those meetings I heard the success stories of the women that received a helping hand.
