This week has been full of meaningful moments that showcase the power of collaboration and community support! Tuesday: We visited two of our incredible Partner Agencies—the Gaston Literacy Council and the Girl Scouts. Gaston Literacy Council has seen a remarkable rise in ESL adult students and the Girl Scouts are using their United Way of Gaston County funding to launch a new troop at a local middle school. Seeing their work in action was truly inspiring! Thursday: Our staff and board joined forces to serve more than 115 elementary students at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Gaston dinner—and we didn’t stop there! We also provided pizza for 52 teenagers at the Teen Center. The students' smiles and gratitude were a powerful reminder of why we do this work! Partnerships make us stronger. With the winter weather among us, we felt it was right to share some memories from our Senior Christmas Wishes program to warm your hearts today. In December, the United Way of Gaston County served over 500 local senior citizens across the County. Seniors were provided a want, a need, and a read. With many requesting blankets, throws, heated blankets, and small heaters we take pride in knowing they are enjoying those wishes today with temperatures below freezing! As we reflect on our service to the community, this program could not be possible without our community partners and volunteers so, THANK YOU! #SeniorChristmasWishes #UnitedWayofGastonCounty
