We are thrilled to announce the iconic Christine Baranski as our 2025 Women United Luncheon Speaker! ??? For over 26 years, we’ve gathered to celebrate the power of women and girls at our annual Women United Luncheon. We're excited to continue the tradition with this year's theme: Unapologetic. We believe our community is strongest when women and girls unapologetically share their light, courage and power with the world. Proceeds from the event support our Women United Initiative, which provides women access to stable housing, job opportunities and more to achieve their dreams. Sponsorship opportunities are open! “I have seen so much growth in Shayron. He is better at following routines, taking turns and sharing; it really is helping him with his social-emotional development†– Paloma, a mom in our HIPPY program. Paloma is in our Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) program which offers parents and caregivers workshops on health, wellness, legal services and nutrition. This month, we provided information about Medicaid enrollment and early detection of cervical cancer for mothers from the Community Health Center Tepeyac. During the event, parents also practiced age-appropriate science activities to do with their little ones at home. HIPPY is one way we are expanding access to high-quality early childhood education for families in our community. On the first day of the 2025 tax season, a grandmother raising four kids came to our newest North Denver tax site. With an income of just $13,800, she worked with Faye, an AmeriCorps NCCC team leader and Tax Help Colorado volunteer, to file her taxes. After completing the return, Faye discovered she qualified for a life-changing refund of $27,900. Faye helped the client realize the power of tax credits and is grateful to be a part of a mission that fosters hope. In honor of #BlackHistoryMonth, we're spotlighting Black-owned businesses in Denver, like Fritay Haitian Cuisine, founded and owned by Farah-Jane. Farah-Jane started the food truck as a way to introduce Haitian food to the Denver community after she noticed a lack of diversity in Denver's food scene. Yesterday, we testified at the Colorado State Capital to voice support for SB25-150: Fostering Success Pilot Program within the Colorado Department of Human Services. This initiative aims to assist foster youth and their caregivers through two key components: ?? Supplemental Support Program – Awarding $2,000 annually to foster care providers who support a youth in foster care until they graduate from high school. ?? Milestone Incentives Program – Awarding $1,000 directly to foster youth upon their high school graduation, encouraging them to complete their education. We are proud to advocate for Colorado's foster youth today and every day. We encourage to you join us by contacting your legislators in the Senate and urge them to support SB25-150.
