On October 31, Planet Youth Calgary, an initiative by United Way of Calgary and Area, held its annual Pipe Ceremony and Oral Truthing. This meaningful gathering, led by the Misakanwah Community Services Association, Indigenous Elders, and Youth Elders, honoured Cree and Sioux teachings while celebrating the progress of Planet Youth initiatives with Indigenous youth. The Planet Youth Survey is now live in 7 Calgary high schools! The Social Impact Lab (SIL), an initiative of the United Way of Calgary and Area, is making strides. Last month, SIL took its innovative, community-driven approach to Mayerthorpe, collaborating with local residents, nonprofits, and businesses to explore solutions for welcoming newcomers and promoting inclusion. National Housing Day is a powerful reminder that everyone deserves a safe, stable place to call home—a foundation for building brighter futures and stronger communities. ??
