At United Way of the Brazos Valley (UWBV), we are proud to support Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas (RMHC CTX) and their incredible work in our community! ???? The Ronald McDonald Family Room at College Station Medical Center provides a home-away-from-home for families with hospitalized children, offering a space to rest, recharge, and stay just steps away from their little ones. Their services include comfortable lounges for families, kitchen and dining areas, shower and laundry facilities, and sleeping spaces. As one grateful parent shared: "Having a place to rest while my baby was in the NICU made all the difference. The Ronald McDonald Family Room gave us a moment to breathe during the hardest days of our lives." ?? Through our partnership, UWBV helps fund RMHC CTX's essential services, ensuring families in the Bryan-College Station area have the support they need when facing medical challenges. United Way of the Brazos Valley thanks our President and CEO, Peggi Ondrasek for eight years of service and dedication to our staff and our community. Peggi was first introduced to UWBV as a volunteer, and "felt connected to the amazing work of nonprofits in our community." Her work has garnered support from all over the Brazos Valley, and through her efforts we are a proud nonprofit partner of 28 local organizations. It's through the love for community that individuals like Peggi can truly make a difference and uplift their communities. "There is so much to do and so much to learn every day, and I'm thankful to our donors and community for helping us create a better future one day at a time." United Way of the Brazos Valley celebrates Sara Mendez, the Assistant Director of Texas A&M School of Public Health has been a board member with us for six years. Sara has donated her time, efforts, and passion to our mission and community. Her contributions will keep our mission alive for years to come! From the bottom of our hearts, Thank You for your service, Sara! ?? Sara shares her story below: "I became a board member of the United Way of the Brazos Valley in 2019 because I heard an ad on the radio. I already had a passion for UWBV since I had been involved for many years (I think since around 2003) as a committee member, grant reviewer, and grant reviewer team lead. I was familiar with the organization and the great work they do in the community. So, I committed to the next step of being on the board. Throughout my six years as a board member, I helped the organization grow through hiring a new President and CEO and revising the bylaws. I also assisted with the grant review process for our community partners, served as board chair in 2023, served on the community impact committee, and contributed financially through events and workplace campaigns. I am honored to have served on the UWBV board, and I know the organization will continue to mobilize communities to action." #UnitedIsTheWay

?? We are excited to announce the recipient of our 2nd Annual Johnny Burns Impact Award is Kim Fox! Kim currently serves as Campus/Community Collaborations Manager at Texas A&M University in the Office of Community Engagement, Office of the President. Kim has been a supporter of nonprofits in the Brazos Valley for nearly 25 years both in her work at Texas A&M and Brazos Valley Worldfest and her dedication through volunteering. Kim will be presented with the Johnny Burns Impact Award at our Campaign Kickoff Tailgate! Please join us in celebrating Kim on August 23rd as Brigadier General Ramirez will present the award to her.
