????Every year, our Navigation Center helps local families access free or low-cost holiday meals, gifts, and events across Central Texas. Despite everything, Mia had hope. She dreamed of going to college. But growing up in foster care without many resources, the odds were stacked against her. Every obstacle got in the way: At 18, she became pregnant. After learning her roommate hadn’t been paying rent or utilities, they were at risk of eviction. Fearing the worst, Mia called a United Way partner for help. Mia’s call opened the door not just to rental assistance, but year-long prenatal support and higher education resources. With the support of United Way, Mia is now halfway through her courses at Austin Community College. She’s on the path to becoming an ultrasound technician.
