We are still riding the wave of joy from the incredible launch of our Washington DC Chapter. A heartfelt thank you to Bank of America and Liz Trejo for hosting us and Sugar Rim Bar for the delicious bites that added a flavor to an already spectacular evening! Ilhiana Rojas Saldana, ACC, CDVC, and Esther Aguilera kicked off the evening with powerful opening remarks, challenging us to envision boldly, elevate our voice, and take actionable steps toward our dreams. T We were also honored to have two incredible Power Talks: Madeleine F. Wallace, Ph.D., who introduced us to her transformative S.E.A.M. framework (Snapshot, Envision, Act, Measure), providing a valuable tool for growth, and Chelsea De Jesus, MPA, who moved us with her story of stepping into our power through authenticity, a message that deeply resonated with everyone in the room. It was also an honor to see some of the #ExtraordinaryLatinas book authors, including Isabel Argoti, Maria Jimenez, MBA, and Laura Camila Rivera, showcasing the strength and power of our stories and voices. A huge thank you to our DC Chapter Leader Dr. Valery Maya, DEL, PMP, BB for her leadership and dedication to help create a space where connections were made, stories were shared, and inspiration was everywhere. To celebrate Women’s Month, we are honored to share the story of Extraordinary Latina Annie Reyes in the new book Extraordinary Latinas Vol IV: Fearless Narratives of Triumph, Unity and Purpose. ? ? Annie is a dynamic Latina businesswoman with Cuban and Venezuelan roots, who has built a remarkable career grounded in creativity, resilience, and a deep commitment to community. After early recognition in Venezuela, where she won the "Mara de Oro" award for Marketing Woman of the Year, she relocated to Miami due to political unrest. Overcoming language barriers and self-doubt, she became the Promotions Director for the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana, managing major events like the Calle Ocho Music Festival. In her late 50s, Annie achieved these remarkable milestones, including founding Hivedeco in 2020, where she merged art and well-being by creating over 500 commissioned art pieces and publishing coloring books to promote mental health. In 2024, she earned an Art Therapy Certification, was named Florida's Best Coloring Book Author, and was nominated for the Connecting Community Award by United Latinas Inc. Most recently, Annie was honored as the winner of the 2024 Female Voice Awards in the Inner Peace Category by WomELLE, showing that it’s never too late to pursue your dreams. ?
