Positivity Post of the Day So I jumped on a bandwagon and went for a coffee with my younger self. But he didn’t want a coffee. So we opted for our mutual love of wine… Him: What are you doing in a wheelchair? Me: We had a high-speed skydiving accident… Him: Really? Me: Nah. We’re in the last stages of a progressive disease called Multiple Sclerosis. Him: Yikes! That’s awful… Me: Yeah, it’s tough, but there’s worse stuff out there. And anyway, we make a living as a public speaker. We still make awful jokes, but now we get paid for it. Him: What about all the fun stuff we used to get up to? Girls and skiing? Me: Well girls, we fell madly in love and stopped all that nonsense. Joanne Webb is amazing. 25 years married and two fantastic children. And we still have fab adventures. Seated skiing, wheelchair rugby, paragliding. All sorts! Him: Oh, so we’re ok? And happy? Me: Yup, don’t worry, we’ll cope. Him: Oh! How is our lovely sister Vicky? Me. Hmmm, you might want to sit down. She got married to a lovely chap and we’ve got fantastic nephews. But, ummm, she died eight years ago. Alcohol. Him: (Silent, crying, puts down drink) Me: I’m sorry, but you asked. I told you there were worse things. But her boys and hubby are fantastic. Some of her ashes are scattered under that rose and we talk to her every morning. Him: Blimey! (Composes himself). How’s the world we live in? Me: Ah. Legislation is rolling back our rights. This isn’t just a setback it’s an erasure of decades of progress. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) was never just about corporate buzzwords or performative activism. It exists to protect and empower all marginalized communities, ensuring that everyone regardless of gender, race, identity, or ability has the right to thrive in a world that too often shuts them out. Who Does DEI Protect? ? Women – Fighting against gender discrimination, pay gaps, and leadership barriers. ? People of Color – Demanding racial justice, equal opportunity, and systemic change. ? LGBTQ+ Community – Protecting rights, ensuring safety, and breaking down discrimination. ? Immigrants & Refugees – Defending fair policies, protections, and access to opportunities. ? Religious Minorities – Preserving the right to practice faith freely without oppression. ? Neurodivergent Individuals – Creating inclusive environments for cognitive diversity. ? Elderly People – Battling ageism and securing dignity, accessibility, and respect. ? Veterans – The ones who fought for freedom with blood, yet face barriers to jobs, healthcare, and support. But right now, DEI is under attack. Laws are being reversed. Opportunities are being stolen. Voices are being silenced. And yet, we will not be silent.
