Our Stuff the Bus initiative makes sure kids from low-income households have the supplies they need to succeed. Across the U.S., volunteers and donors are coming together to pack and distribute thousands of backpacks, helping families ease the financial burden of back-to-school shopping. I recently met with the 10 outstanding young leaders from across the United Way Network who will be joining me in Montreal for the 2024 One Young World Summit! So, what’s the mood amongst our Delegate Cohort going into #OYW24? “A dream come true,” “an honor,” and “empowering” — These are just a few of the ways that our Delegates describe what this opportunity means to them. This Labor Day, we celebrate the achievements of Yvonne Brooks, who made history as the President of the Georgia State AFL-CIO in 2023. With over a decade of service as their treasurer, Yvonne is only the second Black woman to lead a state AFL-CIO federation in the U.S., marking a significant milestone for diversity and leadership in the labor movement.

The Summer Olympics may be over, but here at United Way Worldwide, we’re gearing up for our own version of the Games. In less than a month, the 2024 One Young World Summit kicks off, and I’m happy to share that I will be returning as a Counselor and a Keynote Speaker. Pouring into the next generation is a special privilege for me, so the experience of attending a gathering of thousands of young leaders attuned to their purpose and driven to achieve it is thrilling. #OYW24 will galvanize young change-makers from nearly 200 countries, offering them a unique platform to connect, elevate their profiles in front of world leaders, and amplify their impact. And here’s a little spoiler: I will not be attending the Summit alone! Stay tuned...
