Women's History Month is an annual observance during the month of March. International Women's Day is on March 8.?

This year’s Third Annual Women United Excellence Awards Luncheon was truly unforgettable! ? A huge THANK YOU to our incredible sponsors for making this event possible and for supporting United Way’s mission to help ALL thrive.

Today United Way of the Capital Area held its annual Health Symposium at the Jackson Convention Center. The focus of the event was to address state health disparities with high school sophomores from Hinds, Madison, and Rankin County schools. This event provided students with practical, hands-on methods for living healthier lives. Presenters covered a range of topics, including fitness, depression, suicide prevention, heart health, and sexual health. This year's Youth Health Symposium theme was "Love Yourz."

February 8 was Super Tax Day! On Saturday United Way of the Capital Area and Entergy sponsored VITA Super Tax Day at the Smilow Prep School in Jackson, MS. The Volunteer Tax Assistance program offered free tax assistance to residents of Hinds, Madison and Rankin counties who earned $72,000 or less. United Way Day at the Capitol ?On February 6, members of the Mississippi United Ways Association attended United Way Day at the Mississippi State Capitol. The United ?Way leaders met with Manly Barton, Speaker Pro Tempore of the Mississippi House of Representatives and Clay, DeWeese, MS House Representative to discuss the importance in securing state appropriation for 2-1-1 Mississippi and ALICE research. Black History Month is an imperative part of our nation’s tradition in which we promote positive examples of historical events, exemplary leaders, and steps towards societal change. This remembrance is vital for the greater understanding of U.S. and world history.

Each year on the 3rd Monday of January we observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day and reflect on the work that still needs to be done for racial equality. Lets make the holiday more than just a day off and take time to reflect and take action on civil rights issues across the globe.
