Phenomenal work, Lancaster County! Thanks to your incredible generosity, #ExtraGive2024 was able to support 444 organizations this year. At United Way of Lancaster County, we are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support we've received during this year's ExtraGive. Through the kindness of 201 donors, we raised $57,475. This achievement is a powerful reminder of what our community can accomplish when we come together. Your contributions will help us continue to provide 211 callers with vital resources, connect volunteers with meaningful nonprofit projects, offer free tax prep through VITA, and support other Lancaster County nonprofits in need. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, welcomed us at events, and spread the word about United Way. Your collective efforts have elevated our mission to mobilize the caring power of our community and made a lasting impact on Lancaster County. We are honored to serve Lancaster County alongside you. We are beyond grateful for the incredible impact Barb Zercher has had as our Director of Donor & Campaign Relations at United Way of Lancaster County. With 15 years of dedicated service, Barb has made a meaningful difference in the lives of families who need resources and support, bringing her expertise and passion to everything she does. Barb is a tremendous asset to our team, always offering her knowledge and a helping hand. Her commitment to our mission and the community is unwavering, and we are lucky to have her. In addition to her work at United Way, Barb is an animal lover who has adopted 9 former racing greyhounds over the past 20 years! We’re especially excited to give a special shoutout to her current companion, Remus! ?? Thank you, Barb, for your 15 years of service to Lancaster County. Your dedication makes us all better, and your heart for our community makes Lancaster County a brighter place. Here’s to many more years of making a difference together!

Homeowners in Lancaster County aged 18 and above (except for those using wood or pellet heating) can apply for a heating system repair or replacement. Today, on Transgender Day of Remembrance, we honor the lives of those lost to anti-transgender violence and reflect on the ongoing struggles faced by the transgender community. First observed in 1999, this day was established by Gwen Smith to memorialize Rita Hester, a transgender woman whose murder became a catalyst for the movement. Transgender Day of Remembrance is a time to remember, reflect, and renew our commitment to building a more inclusive and supportive world for all. Many victims of transgender violence are disproportionately people of color. Today, we stand united against discrimination and violence, advocating for a world where everyone is safe, respected, and celebrated for who they truly are. On this Transgender Day of Remembrance, let’s work to protect transgender rights—to live without fear, to access healthcare, to be seen for who they are, and to be treated with dignity and respect. Amplify trans voices, challenge hate, and stand together in solidarity. ?????
