In early 2022, United Way brought together mental health experts to collaborate on solutions for youth mental health within our community. Advice and guidance came from local, state, and national experts, as well as those with lived experience. Together, we launched a new initiative, Teen Mental Wellness: Empowering Minds. Through collaboration with Techquity, we're equipping local residents with essential tools and knowledge like how to set up their email or apply for careers online. Our senior programs manager in Milwaukee, Thamiris Hastings, serves on Techquity's advisory council, further strengthening our commitment to community impact?through digital skills. When medical problems began, so did Crystal’s loss of income. Worried and unsure, she found her beacon of hope: Family Promise of Waukesha County. Family Promise is a nonprofit organization located in downtown Waukesha, whose focus is to help people stay in the homes that they currently reside in. They do this through their Family Homelessness Prevention Program. The aid continues beyond financial assistance with long-term case management that helps families gather the education and resources that they need to stay housed and empowered.
