Initially chartered in 1937 as Umatilla State Bank by a group of Umatilla citizens and citrus growers, USB served mainly the greater Umatilla community in its early days as branch banking was not allowed in Florida until the late ‘70s. When the State of Florida authorized branch banking, USB immediately opened branches in several nearby Lake County communities. To reflect our growing geographic footprint at the time, the Umatilla State Bank name was changed to United Southern Bank in 1987, allowing us to preserve the “USB” we were known by in our communities. Today, with 12 offices in Lake and Sumter Counties and over 80 years of community banking experience, United Southern Bank still puts a premium on building strong long-term relationships with our customers. The bank’s officers and directors live here – many of them all their lives – and pride themselves on knowing our customers well and understanding their banking needs. Local ownership and management of the bank truly does make a difference. When working with customers and making business decisions, we simply “do the right thing” each and every day. Our Leesburg teams joined forces this weekend to sponsor and attend the City of Leesburg’s Pancake Palooza—the Ultimate Brunchfest in Leesburg Towne Square! We enjoyed delicious creations from local restaurants and food trucks showcasing their brunch best with a pancake twist. The event featured live music, brunch favorites, and, of course… pancakes! ?? ???♀? We had a fantastic time sponsoring and playing in the AdventHealth Waterman Foundation’s 30th Annual Partners in Health Care Golf Classic at Bella Collina on Monday! We enjoyed a beautiful day on the course and were proud to support a great cause that raised over $90,000 for the AdventHealth Waterman Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit. Since opening in 2019, this unit has served over 900 community members needing rehabilitation services. With the support of sponsors and donors, it recently expanded from 12 to 22 beds, making a huge difference in healthcare access for our community. Thank you to everyone involved—your contributions genuinely make an impact! We’re excited to stay connected and can’t wait to be part of next year’s tournament.
