Indianapolis is gearing up to host the National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC) this week! From August 21-24, top truck drivers from across the U.S. will showcase their skills and dedication in rigorous tests of expertise and safety. This year's highlight is the exciting tanker division showdown between Carl Thederahn of UPT and Dennis Rollins from our Florida Rock and Tank Lines family. Our President and CEO, Matt Herndon, will be attending Tank Truck Week later this year in Charlotte, NC. The tank truck industry is continually evolving, and UPT is committed to staying on the cutting-edge of technology, safety, and innovation.

We are proud to announce that our President and CEO Matt Herndon joined Governor Kevin Stitt, Senator Darrell Weaver, State Representative Erick Harris, and several trucking industry leaders to celebrate the passage of Senate Bill 1930. The bill encourages transportation companies to enact enhanced safety protocols while ensuring employees are not misclassified. Matt Herndon commented: “We’re very proud to get this bill across the finish line. It certainly could not have been done without the hard work of many professionals in our industry. Many thanks to the Oklahoma Legislature and Governor Stitt for supporting this legislation.” The bill goes into effect on November 1 of this year.

As South Texas continues to grapple with severe flooding from Hurricane Beryl, communities are struggling to meet the increased demand for gasoline needed for emergency services, transportation, and generators. UPT has recognized the urgent need in these communities and is working diligently to support those affected by the storm. So far, we've dispatched five loads from our San Antonio terminal and eight from our Dallas location, with many more planned in the coming days.
