In #Gaza, critical humanitarian relief efforts enabled by the ceasefire continue at full speed. But, much more is needed. The scale of destruction of civilian infrastructure is so vast, requiring time and resources to repair the damage. Maintaining a steady flow of supplies into Gaza is paramount to further restore basic services and ensure vital facilities can operate. For this, we need sustained funding and aid access — along with a lasting ceasefire. ?? Hear from our colleague on the ground ??

Thanks to humanitarian mine action, farmers in #Syria can plant crops again. ?? The threat of mines and explosive hazards is ever present in the country, risking people's lives. With support from the #Syria Humanitarian Fund, a United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) project has cleared farmland of these deadly explosive hazards. For years, these hidden dangers kept families from farming their fields, cutting off both food supplies and livelihoods. But today, hope is growing. Farmers are planting crops again, feeding their communities and earning a living to support their families. This is the impact of humanitarian support — helping people rebuild their lives, one harvest at a time. Watch?? ??

Ongoing violence in eastern #DRCongo is pushing communities to the brink. Humanitarian needs are mounting, making an already dire situation worse. At the same time, the humanitarian aid response is under threat. Violence has disrupted humanitarian operations, and our access to those in urgent need is shrinking. ?? The situation is critical — and the need for support has never been greater. This year, the humanitarian community requires $2.54 billion to deliver life-saving assistance to 11 million people in need. We urgently call for safe, unimpeded humanitarian access and sustained funding to deliver life-saving aid to those caught in this brutal conflict.

As the 4th #RIHF concludes in #Riyadh, one message is crystal clear: humanitarians are not in retreat. In his closing remarks, United Nations Relief Chief Tom Fletcher delivered a powerful call to action, urging the international community to be more determined, more committed, and more angry: "More determined to take the action that we must take; more committed to stand up against the conditions that create inequality and poverty; and moved by anger to humanitarian action." We refuse to leave those who are in direst need to struggle alone. We will remain by their side. Because in times like these, solidarity matters more than ever. ?? Hear more from him. ??

Now more than ever, the people of #Sudan need swift, concrete action from the international community. Edem Wosornu, OCHA Director of Operations and Advocacy, reiterates our 3?? key asks to the United Nations #SecurityCouncil: ?? Protection of civilians, as well as the infrastructure and services they rely on – ensuring all actors fully comply with international humanitarian law. ?? Real implementation of repeated commitments to facilitate movement of humanitarian personnel and supplies, and enable unhindered access to communities requiring aid. ?? Increased, flexible funding to ramp up relief efforts. The unprecedented scale of needs requires an equally unparalleled mobilization of global support. Hear more ??

In #Gaza, more than 547,200 children under the age of ten received their polio vaccine by the third day of the ongoing campaign. This accounts for 90% of the goal, with each passing day being a step closer to stopping the spread and saving young lives. Rapidly repairing sewage, water and sanitation systems is also crucial to contain diseases. But, for all life-saving humanitarian efforts to continue at a meaningful scale, the ceasefire must hold. ?? Hear from our colleague on the ground. ??

More than 307 million people around the world need humanitarian aid. "We're in a moment internationally, when the narrative is that the world is in retreat from humanitarian action. But we're here in Riyadh to say that we're not in retreat," stresses Tom Fletcher at the Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum. "We will coordinate as one movement for those we serve." #RIHF

‘If we are going to rise to the challenge of this disordered world that we're living in, we need moments when people come together and try to fix problems, says Tom Fletcher, Under-Secretary-General at United Nations OCHA. Extreme weather events, inequality and state-based armed conflict are among the leading threats identified in the World Economic Forum’s Global Risks Report 2025.
