This UCB Employee Spotlight Featured Team Member is James England! James started his career with UCB in October 2022 as Marketing Director. Many relationships were already in place. James had worked closely with UCB for about four years as an Account Executive with Forcht Broadcasting in Somerset prior to coming on board full time. He was very familiar with UCB's marketing messages and products, and that made for a smooth transition from advertiser to employee. “I enjoyed working with Kelli Chaney, former UCB Marketing / Public Relations, and then Rayma Daugherty, who assumed Marketing duties after Kelli left,” says James. “I worked on several projects with Kelli and Rayma along with Michael Laxton, Matt Salmons, Anne Phillips, and Steve Bray during those Forcht Broadcasting years. When the opportunity came to join the UCB team, I didn’t need to think it over.” As Marketing Director, James’ job is to produce content for social media and paid ad campaigns (audio, video, graphics, photos, write-ups) to educate folks about UCB’s products, document internal and external events, and promote our people in each market. “One of my top priorities is to use as little stock as possible,” says James. “Stock images, videos and templates are easy to default to as a marketer, but they don’t really tell our story. If I had to drive to Oneida right now to get a photo of one of our own employees to meet a deadline, then I’m out the door as soon as I get a coffee for the road. I just think, in the end, it’s worth it. If we have an ad running in Oneida, for example, I want Chad’s picture on it - or Tammy, Chad, Blake, Teshuah, Jeff, etc. I hope our followers on social media and folks who see our ads notice that effort. We have a lot of fun, too. We barely make it through filming these UCB Border Battle videos because we’re laughing so hard.” James is a graduate of Clinton County High School in Albany, KY, Class of 1996. He attended Lindsey Wilson College on a golf scholarship. After that first season at LWC, he transferred to UK. Not making the golf team at UK, he became interested in the equipment side of golf, put college on hold, and worked in the golf shops in Lexington and Louisville hoping to make a career as a club fitter and clubmaker. He went back and finished his BA in Business Management at Lindsey Wilson in May 2010. When he’s not at work, James loves spending time with his wife of almost 15 years and their 12-year-old son. He loves playing sports with his son - golf, tennis, basketball, ping pong, disc golf and anything else he wants to try. He devotes a lot of time to local organizations as well. Currently he is Club President of the Somerset Noon Rotary Club, a mentor with the YEA! Program (Young Entrepreneurs Academy), Flashback Theater board member, and volunteers for LCTA (Lake Cumberland Tennis Association) throughout the year. Thank you, James, for everything you do to make UCB a better place to work and bank!

SCAM ALERT!!! It appears letters are being set out referencing UCB as the lender involved in a recent home transaction. There is a sample check for an "allocated waiver" and instructions to call an 888 number within 7 days or waiver will be revoked. UCB has no affiliation with this company and we urge everyone to please call your local UCB Branch if you suspect you have outstanding matters to be resolved. DO NOT CALL THE TOLL FREE NUMBER IN THE LETTER. THANK YOU!

Busy day today for Leslie Cummins, Branch Manager in Somerset. After being in the studio this morning live on the air with Greg Moore helping to raise money for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Radiothon on Somerset 106, she had to report to jail to benefit the American Cancer Society of Kentucky's Annual Jail-N-Bail fundraiser. Anne Phillips, Mortgage Lender, brought bail money to get Leslie out of the slammer. Brooke Whitis, local ACS / Relay For Life Representative sure is a tough warden, but she released "The Loan Ranger" from jail once the bail money had been collected. Thank you Brooke for all you do! You put the "fun" in fundraising!

This UCB Employee Spotlight Featured Team Member is Christine Jeffers! Christine was hired in February 1999 as a Teller at the Oneida Office. Getting started, she filled in a few shifts for the Huntsville Office as well. She moved into the role of Assistant Manager in the former Wal-Mart Branch for a spell before moving back to the Oneida Office as Business Manager working closely with the Credit Department. Today, Christine is still at the Oneida Office as Loan / Escrow Administrator. The Credit Department leans on her for all things Escrow related, however she also produces lots of monthly reports and keeps records on Flood Insurance & Dealer Floor Plans, and balancing Mountain Life Insurance & LSI Insurance. She always pitches in and helps in any area she can when needed. If you asked 10 different people at UCB what Christine’s role is, you could very well get 10 slightly different answers, depending on who you ask. And that is a testament to her team-oriented approach to her work and how she views her co-workers as family. Many folks here could not do their job if not for the support and guidance Christine provides. Before starting her now-26-year career with UCB, Christine had several years of banking experience in other states before moving back to Scott County. She is a graduate of Scott High School, Class of 1982. She loves reading, learning new things, and canning. Her favorite family activities include camping, fishing, and whatever else comes up outdoors. Having never been on a cruise ship, she hopes to add this to the list of new experiences soon. She is an active member of Oneida Church of God. Thank you, Christine, for everything you do to make UCB a better place to work and bank!
