One loading from Iran’s Kharg Island terminal set off a complex smuggling operation spanning multiple countries. Iranian petroleum products were transferred via four ship-to-ship transfer operations, disguised as Malaysian-origin through AIS manipulation and falsified documents, and ultimately stored and sold in Croatia. The scheme was designed to benefit the IRGC and its Quds Force, with profits funneled back to support for terrorism, WMD proliferation and human rights abuses. This month, the U.S. seized $47 million in proceeds from the sale-illustrating how strategic enforcement can disrupt the IRGC’s illicit revenue streams. https://lnkd.in/ep5aGBkx
