Hosiana, a 27-year-old single mother from the Maasai tribe, brings to Unite an exceptional attention to detail and superior accounting and project management skills. Last weekend we hosted a first-of-its-kind “Pathways to Success” summit for 43 of our Unite University-level scholars. We took over Twiga Lodge and their campgrounds along the border of Arusha National Park in Usa River, Tanzania, and spent three-days preparing for life after university. Following a detailed and highly professional program designed and led by Lila Wells, we dove deep into 3 pathways: (1) Getting a job. This includes how to identify the right opportunities, prepare the strongest resume, and interview in excellence. (2) Entrepreneurship. Our Unite Scholars are all awarded grants to start small businesses when they join our program following their Form 4 graduations. Many have succeeded in building those businesses, and others, into enterprises that can be scaled in significant ways given the right direction, mentorship, business planning, and resources. (3) Continued education. Identifying and applying for additional scholarship for masters studies around the world. In addition, we welcomed many incredible guest speakers including David Wells (via Zoom), senior partner with the global consulting firm Ernst & Young(EY), Jigar Ganatra, Founder of AFRISOS (African School of Storytelling) and award-winning filmmaker; Doug Crisman, founder of VGI and vice chairman of AFRISOS; Mbwana Alliy, Founder of Savannah Fund and first Tanzanian to attend Stanford Business School; David Grober, founder of Motion Picture Marine and Academy Award winner; Unite Board members Debbie Wiley and Kim Merriman; and Mike Cristina, Safari expert and documentary filmmaker. And we also managed to squeeze in hours of “Unite’s Got Talent,” games and dancing, and even half-day of Safari. Our Unite family, which is constantly growing all across the world, is a powerful, supportive, and critical network through which we can assist one another in achieving our wildest dreams — in service to one another, humanity, and the planet. #unitehummingbirds #unite_scholars_program #unitetheworld #loveinaction #professionaldevelopment #tanzania

We had an exciting meeting in Moshi very kindly and generously orchestrated by VGI and African School of Storytelling (AFRISOS)’s Doug Crisman connecting Unite the World with Africa Foundation, Inc. with Smile Mums Initiative, We 4 You, globalbike, Inc., (Erin Mahaffey), Maisha Outreach Therapy Organization (MOTO) (Johnson Dickson) and David Grober. Together we are forging pathways to create win/win/win outcomes for our organizations and missions in service to the most marginalized and underserved. Unite embraces mutually-beneficial partnerships to deepen and extend our impact. Asanteni Sana to these extraordinary individuals and organizations who commit their lives to serving, caring for, and uplifting the lives of those living in greatest need.
