Managing a large hospital construction project can be chaotic, but our team tamed the complexity with a tailored prefabrication approach. A large northern Ohio hospital system was in the midst of a new construction project when they turned to our team for our expertise in modular structural supports. This Veterans Day we celebrate all of those who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. Thank you to the Veterans at Unistrut Midwest who have made an instrumental impact on our team. John Justice, our Operations Manager in our Columbus office, shared how his platoon sergeant greatly impacted his life during service and beyond. He says, “I joined the army in September of 1992 after graduating high school, looking for structure and to experience more of the world. I was stationed in Schweinfurt Germany as a part of the 2/64 armor battalion. I was very fortunate that my first assignment was tank driver for our platoon sergeant, who was notorious for having the highest standards of operation in the brigade. He was extremely tough on me, which I didn't like at first, but months later, after having the highest score on our first gunnery exercise, I quickly understood that he had set me up for success, in a way that stuck with me to this day. He showed me that putting in the extra work and having high standards produces an outcome that can be very empowering. I have managed people for over 20 years, in multiple industries and have had some amazing teams. We’re proud to have completed a custom ceiling grid installation in several lab classrooms at the University of Michigan's Bob and Betty Beyster Building. Our Unistrut Midwest engineers are experienced in problem-solving for large-scale and industrial installations, ensuring that every project meets unique structural and functional requirements. During our on-site inspections, we identified and resolved critical engineering challenges to guarantee reliable auxiliary support for snorkel hoods and other essential lab equipment. Every component was powder-coated with special finishes for added quality and longevity in the laboratory setting. Workplace safety begins before any team members step on a lift, activate machinery, or even put on their PPE. It starts with a company culture of communication, radical candor, and teamwork around maintaining safe worksite practices and conditions. At Unistrut Midwest, we know that our project sites can have safety hazards, which is why creating a culture of workplace safety is so important. We established a Training Room in March 2024, led by Unistrut Midwest CEO Kevin Brooks, Director of Operations Ryan Sanders, and Training Coordinator Jody Floyd. It provides an area where the team can prioritize the annual safety training for installers and warehouse employees as well as installation practice and practical training. When it comes to building safe, reliable access solutions, we don’t just raise the bar – we build the ladder! The #UnistrutMidwest team recently completed a project at a firehouse in Van Buren Township, Michigan, which involved constructing an access ladder and platform using our Kattsafe aluminum safety ladder and Unistrut supports. We anchored the ladder to the ground using Unistrut at the base and poured concrete for added stability. The Unistrut brackets were utilized to securely support the platform above the bay door, ensuring the structure's durability and safety. Offering both rooftop and in-plant solutions, the Unistrut Midwest team has experience in the most complicated access equipment applications and has developed solutions to the access issues found in today’s commercial and industrial facilities.
