Unique’s Heavy Metal Summer Experience Final Week & Graduation Students worked primarily in the fabrication shop on several sheet metal projects, learning a variety of techniques as well as welding. They also learned rigging utilizing a scissor lift. Throughout the week students enjoyed discussions with Unique's craft professionals, hearing stories from working in the field, and learning about the stages of career progression from Apprentice to Journeyperson. The final day of HSME was graduation. Norman Brothers, President and Susan Avakyan, Controller were joined by Robert Bolton, CEO of Arden Building Companies, Don Grebien, Mayor of Pawtucket, and HMSE representatives—Mike and Jennifer Zoll in support of such an outstanding initiative. Unique Metal Works hosts the first-ever Heavy Metal Summer Experience (HSME) in Rhode Island. HMSE is a free 32-hour program that introduces students ages 16 to 18 to union job opportunities in the mechanical and sheet metal construction industries. Students attending HMSE represent the following schools: Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School–Fall River, The Met High School–Providence, Charles E. Shea High School–Pawtucket, Attleboro High School, Seekonk High School and Arts High School–Newark NJ
