Almighty God, on this Memorial Day, we pause to reflect upon our blessings as a nation and the high cost of those blessings for many. We offer our prayers of thanks and gratitude for the sacrifice of those who have given of themselves to our country, reflecting the teachings and sacrifice of your Son, Jesus Christ. We pray for the families and friends of those who have given their lives in service to our nation. May they be comforted in their sadness and strengthened in their loss. Lord, we also pray for peace in the world; guide our leaders, protect our soldiers, and grant us the courage to strive for peace and justice in our communities. Help us to remember that true honor lies in service and sacrifice, inspiring us to work for the common good of all Your children. Amen.
