For children like Nour, 11, the escalations in Lebanon and the destruction of educational infrastructure in 2024 added to an already challenging education situation. Nearly 500,000 children were forced out of school. And even with the ceasefire now, school attendance remains low. Children’s mental health and nutrition are on the decline. UNICEF has been supporting children on these critical aspects, but continued international support is vital for their well-being. Nour is determined to continue her education despite everything she’s been through. Share her story to show your support.

Horror after horror is being inflicted on the children of Sudan. Armed men are raping and sexually assaulting children, amid the nationwide conflict. “Children as young as one being raped by armed men should shock anyone to their core and compel immediate action,” said UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell. “Millions of children in Sudan are at risk of rape and other forms of sexual violence, which is being used as a tactic of war. This is an abhorrent violation of international law and could constitute a war crime. It must stop.” UNICEF and partners are working to reduce the risks of gender-based violence, address its underlying drivers and social norms and support survivors to access life-saving medical, mental health, safety and referral services. UNICEF is calling for urgent international efforts to protect and support children in Sudan: https://lnkd.in/dqBntyXj We will continue to spotlight this grave situation. Join us in supporting girls and women in the country who have survived sexual violence and are courageously sharing their stories.

364,000. That’s how many children UNICEF and partners are reaching daily with life-saving clean water amid intense fighting and interruptions in the water supply in Goma, DR Congo. Trucking water to health facilities, providing fuel to start pumping stations, treating lake water and constructing water networks - these are just some of the ways UNICEF and partners are ensuring access to clean water and sanitation. With ongoing cholera and mpox epidemics in eastern parts of the country, children and families need safe water now more than ever to protect themselves and prevent a deeper health crisis. “Around the world, children in protracted conflicts are three times more likely to die from water-related diseases than violence. Re-establishing essential services needs to be prioritized, or we risk even more lives,” said?Jean Francois Basse, UNICEF's acting Representative in DR Congo. Details: https://lnkd.in/gEhDBuYS

Today, learn more about UNICEF’s mobile team, which is touted as “healthcare on wheels.” This team directly provides essential health and nutrition services to families in remote regions. In war-torn Yemen, they help reach a very vulnerable population that has been suffering from malnutrition, disease outbreaks and other life-threatening risks for a decade. Before UNICEF’s mobile teams were deployed, the health professionals in the country had no appropriate place to accept patients, screen and treat them for malnutrition and other illnesses, or vaccinate children. But now, our mobile team vehicles reach inaccessible or non-functional regions, providing life-saving services, including for children under five and pregnant and lactating women. For many families, the mobile teams are more than just vehicles, medical supplies and people who explain how to care for their babies. They are a beacon of hope. “I am grateful to the doctors in this team. Thanks to them, my son and I receive all the necessary treatment,” says a young mother from Dhamar.
