Winds, rains and winter conditions are worsening the living situation of children and families in Gaza. UNICEF is supporting them with essential supplies and services for winter, including winter clothes, and cleaning and maintaining sewage and stormwater networks. A ceasefire is absolutely critical now.

Up to half of all members in armed groups in Haiti are children, who join them out of poverty, lack of education, collapsing services and fear of reprisal. “This unacceptable trend must be reversed by ensuring children’s safety and welfare are prioritized by all parties.” - UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell. By being recruited into armed groups, children become victims of grave violations of their rights. UNICEF has trained security forces and civil society organizations on child protection measures to safeguard their rights. UNICEF and partners are providing interim care for children previously associated with armed groups, offering psychosocial support, food and family tracing and reunification services.
