Role model. Cheerleader. Best friend. For 18-year-old Yolanda, her grandmother is all this and more. Her wisdom as a Zambian educator empowered Yolanda to become a leading voice in child rights. Now, as a UNICEF Youth Advocate, she is continuing the legacy of change on a global scale. This powerful story of mentorship and love passed through generations will inspire you. #GirlGoals https://lnkd.in/gub9CB2X

“Many children and families are still missing and traumatised.†From Mandalay, UNICEF Myanmar's Ko Sai reports on the earthquake’s devastating toll on children and families. UNICEF and partners are on the ground assessing needs and prepositioning life-saving supplies. Donate to support our ongoing response: https://lnkd.in/gvRn7bjR

The devastation caused by the earthquake in Myanmar is widespread. Critical infrastructure including power lines, commercial properties, and community facilities lie in ruins. UNICEF is working with partners to assess and respond to the needs of affected children and families. Children face increased vulnerability in the aftermath of disasters. And children in Myanmar are already vulnerable to the ongoing violence and humanitarian crisis. UNICEF is on the ground but we can’t do it alone. Donate today to bring hope and relief to children and families: https://lnkd.in/gmVScNFC ? UNICEF Myanmar

Caught in the crossfire in Haiti, families—especially children—live in constant fear, always prepared to flee at a moment’s notice. Kenscoff, a community in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area, has endured relentless attacks from armed groups for nearly two months. Schools remain closed, placing children’s futures in jeopardy. “What I wish for children in Haiti – not only mine – is to have a future,†says Blandine, a mother of two. The violence in Kenscoff—and across Haiti—must end. Children’s safety and futures must be protected.

UNICEF is deeply concerned about the devastating impact of today’s earthquake in Myanmar on children and families. Initial reports show severe damage to buildings and roads in urban centers which are home to hundreds of thousands of children. Damage has also been reported in Bangkok and other parts of Thailand. Our teams are on the ground in affected areas, assessing the impact and preparing to support the humanitarian response. ? UNICEF Myanmar

Every child deserves the best start in life. This means zero hunger among children and access to nutritious food. Yet, for millions of children, this is not the reality. Governments must step up and implement policies and financial commitments to end child food poverty and malnutrition. #N4GParis
