A healthy life, #ForEveryChild. That means zero hunger and access to nutritious food. Yet, for millions of children across Africa, this is not the reality. Governments must implement policies and financial commitments to end child food poverty and malnutrition. #N4GParis

Here’s the current reality for children’s right to nutrition: ?? Food systems are failing ?? Health systems are failing ?? Social protection systems are failing We can reverse this. We have the tools to prevent child malnutrition and help ensure every child in Africa survives and thrives. What is needed is leadership, policy commitment and resources. Governments: it’s time to act now! #N4GParis

This week marks a highlight for #FixMyFoodSA as Siphosethu Nase, a youth advocate from KwaZulu-Natal, jetted off to Paris to represent South Africa at the Nutrition For Growth (#N4GParis) summit. The summit is a platform for stakeholders to advocate for ambitious financial and political commitments to put nutrition at the center of the sustainable development agenda. Siphosethu is sharing his personal experiences of the exploitative tactics of the big food and beverage companies in deliberately and excessively targeting youth and children. As a panellist at the summit, Siphosethu also joins two discussions focused on adolescent nutrition, organized by UNICEF, the Emergency Nutrition Network (ENN), Save the Children UK, and Sight and Life. He will wrap up his time in Paris with a side event themed 'Transforming Food Environments for Children' organized by UNICEF, the World Health Organization Global, Nutrition International and French member of Parliament, Eléonore Caroit. We're so thrilled to have a young advocate leading this landmark participation from the Fix My Food movement that recognises the growing, global youth voice that is rising up against exploitation by the big food and beverage industry.

We recently received a short, powerful video from Brigitte MATCHINDA, Education Specialist at UNICEF Madagascar, that truly resonated. Her perspective on foundational learning is both personal and profound: Her journey from acquiring basic literacy and numeracy to earning a doctorate despite economic challenges demonstrates the transformative power of foundational learning. We particularly love her description of knowledge as "a chain that must not be broken" - highlighting our collective responsibility to share what we've learned. How has foundational learning shaped your journey? And how are you ensuring that chain of knowledge continues? #FoundationalLearning #IWD2025 #Education #UNICEF #KnowledgeSharing #EducationEquity #ELPAf UNICEF Africa UNICEF

Nigeria has one of the largest out-of-school populations globally. To address this issue, the Nigeria Learning Passport (NLP) was launched in 2022 striving to make digital learning accessible to all children, no matter who or where they are. Today the NLP has expanded across 21 states, reaching 1.8 million users with almost 1 in 2 being women and girls. #LearningPassport10m Mac Glovinsky

Our partnership with the African Development Bank Group is crucial in delivering climate-resilient water, sanitation and hygiene projects across Somalia, Burundi, and Eritrea. With AfDB’s partnership, UNICEF is creating sustainable water systems that strengthen communities’ resilience against climate change, ensuring children and families have reliable access to safe water, today and for generations to come.
