关于我们
Our strength in biochemistry, microbiology and the biomedical sciences at both the basic and applied levels creates the foundation for students at all levels to explore the wonders of the Life Sciences. Several MCBS faculty have received awards at both the university and national levels, including awards for excellence in teaching, research, and mentoring. At the undergraduate level, experiential, hands-on learning is at the core of our teaching mission. In addition to upper-level laboratory courses, many of our students engage in independent research projects under the supervision of a faculty mentor and/or participate in meaningful internships with area employers. As of 2019, UNH is among the 130 doctoral-granting universities in the “very high research activity,” or R1, category, as designated by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. The Carnegie Classification is the leading framework for describing the diversity of the more than 4,000 colleges and universities in the United States.

Congratulations, Reecha!
It is my immense pleasure to share the news that I have officially graduated with M.S. in Genetics from the University of New Hampshire. In addition, I am grateful for the opportunity to obtain another degree; a Graduate Certificate in Data Science, UNH Online. I am grateful to my M.S. advisor; Prof. Iago Hale, who has been kind, supportive, and encouraged me every day during my journey to earn the degree while learning something new. I am thankful to all my lab mates at the Kiwiberry Breeding Lab who were there to help and guide me during my early footsteps into the United States academic environment. I am thankful to my supportive family for helping me gain my independence. I would also like to remember my wonderful friends that I got to meet and learn from Colter Flynn, Ashley Grengs, Mina Aghababaei, Ph.D., Joel, Palash Mandal, Talha Siddique, Priya, Bill, Sandra, Mamta Kajal. These are just a few names, but I got to meet a lot of wonderful people during my stay in Durham, New Hampshire. I am also thankful to all the helping hands at the University specifically former dean Dr. Cari Moorhead, Jovana (pronounced Yoh-vah-na) Milosavljevic-Ardeljan, Ph.D., OISS at UNH, UNH Grad School, for all the opportunities and learning environment to gain the skillset that I have today. Thank you to UNH MCBS, teaching fellowship, and NH Agricultural Experiment Station for the funding that was provided To sum up, my memories and experiences aren't enough in a post, but I will miss the colorful fall the most. As I look forward to the next steps for my doctoral studies, New Hampshire and UNH are and will always remain very special and a defining cornerstone of my professional life.

The Medical Laboratory Science Program would like to highlight 6 seniors who are currently completing a clinical internship this semester: Eric Carter, Sage DeCell, Timothy Guman, Jasmine Ho, Briana Seward, and Niecong (Nic) Wu. Our program offers a clinical internship during the last semester of senior year where students work in the field learning important laboratory skills in addition to completing coursework. During this 18-week experience, students rotate through the four main sections of the clinical lab: Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, and Clinical Microbiology. Our internship sites this semester are Catholic Medical Center, Concord Hospital, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Portsmouth Regional Hospital, and Wentworth Douglass Hospital. This opportunity provides valuable hands-on experience combined with a chance to make connections with professionals in the field. Most of these students have job offers before graduation!
