The $2.5B Unemployment tab Massachusetts mistakenly shifted to the federal government is coming back to haunt them after over a year since the news broke. Employers are already burdened with a Covid-19 "Recovery" factor and the state's trust fund is set to be insolvent by 2028. Asking employer's to shoulder even more now nearly a half a decade away from these payments would be crippling. We will continue working to get out front on this issue with other business minds, but it will be a long road. Do you think employer's should be responsible for this repayment?

UTCA was proud to represent our employers in a thoughtful exploration into UI with the Connecticut Department of Labor and U.S. Department of Labor last week. the U.S. Secretary of Labor Julie Su spoke to Unemployment's challenges nationally, successes in Connecticut and the roadmap for the future. We're grateful to be a small part of the improvement and sustainability of unemployment moving forward!
It was my great honor to participate in a timely panel discussion hosted by the Connecticut Department of Labor with the U.S Secretary of Labor Julie Su. Connecticut's momentous UI reforms and system modernization have been recognized by the federal government for good reason. It was so refreshing to see the federal government focus on shifting the nation's UI system towards the future. We will continue to work in lockstep with the state and federal agencies to ensure the UI system can be more efficient, equitable and accessible for all stakeholders.
