Well said, Gigi Davidson! We are incredibly proud of our Veterinary Pharmacy track students and the faculty and preceptors that support their success. We are grateful for the advocacy of APhA that has helped move this practice space forward!
I'll say it again: Pharmacists are the ONLY healthcare professionals legally permitted to provide pharmacy care, compounds, and products for ALL species--not just humans but also the other 60,000 species on this earth! American Pharmacists Association values this and has led the way in supporting and advancing veterinary pharmacy practice. This month's Pharmacy Today cover story, Pet Pharmacy, gives a shout-out to veterinary pharmacists, but APhA is modest and did not blow their own horn in this story, so I will! APhA Support of Veterinary Pharmacy Practice: 2021: APhA House of Delegates votes in policy change to include non-human species in the definition of patient! 2023: APhA House of Delegates votes to encourage schools and colleges of pharmacy to offer veterinary pharmacy training opportunities in their curricula! 2023: APhA creates a Veterinary Workgroup as part of their Compounding SIG! 2024: APhA's Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) starts a Job Analysis to determine whether or not Veterinary Pharmacy Practice should become a board certified speciality! Thank you APhA for being THE most progressive pharmacy organization ? #americanpharmacistsassociation #veterinarypharmacy #aphahouseofdelegates #boardofpharmacyspecialties
