In northern Cambodia, forests are more than trees—they are homes, harvests, and heritage.
This #ForestDay (21 March), discover how communities are helping safeguard one of the most breathtaking landscapes in the world. These forests shelter rare orchids ??, endangered wildlife ??, and timeless monuments like Angkor Wat ??—woven together through generations of care and connection.
With its abundant water resources and lush forests, Kulen Mountain supports the livelihoods of about 80% of local residents via its ecosystem services. The local people rely on non-timber forest products such as orchids, leaves, bamboo, resin, mushrooms and aquatic resources like fish and crabs, while the mountain provides them free irrigation water for the surrounding agricultural land.
From the canopy to the ground, every part of this ecosystem tells a story of resilience, balance, and coexistence.
