?? Strengthening Responsible Business in Kyrgyzstan With UNDP’s support and funding from the Government of Japan, Kyrgyzstan has made a significant step in integrating human rights into its economic policies. The newly adopted Programme and Action Plan on Business and Human Rights—the first of its kind in Central Asia—lays the foundation for responsible business conduct, aligning with international human rights standards. ? Key Achievements: ?? A comprehensive National Baseline Assessment reviewed legal and policy frameworks on business and human rights. ?? Stakeholder consultations engaged 249 representatives from 149 organizations to ensure inclusivity. ?? Why does this matter? These efforts strengthen transparency, accountability, and sustainability in the private sector—creating a more just, stable, and investment-friendly Kyrgyzstan. UNDP remains committed to supporting national priorities and fostering a business environment where respect for human rights is at the core of economic development. “What does a good R2HE Declaration look like to you?” ? Last month, youth groups, climate policy advocates, and environmental defenders gathered to unpack what it means to tackle the climate crisis from the generational perspective of young people. Discussions centred on what a good R2HE — the Right to a Clean, Healthy, and Sustainable Environment — policy would look like, through a #BizHR lens. We asked, and youths spoke. Here are the highlights from the session. AICHR Malaysia | Delegation of the European Union to Malaysia | UNDP B+HR

UNDP recently organized two significant events on Responsible Business Conduct (RBC), bringing together stakeholders from various sectors to discuss the economic implications of RBC in the context of upcoming LDC graduation. The first event on 17th February was a multi-stakeholder dialogue, in which UNDP’s study on “Responsible Business Conduct for Bangladesh’s Growth Aspiration” was presented and discussion held in this aspect. An insights exchange event on RBC was later organized on 18 March in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce, engaging officials from various Ministries and Departments. These events emphasized the importance of human rights, environmental sustainability, and required commitment to fostering inclusive economic growth for sustainable transition.

?? Young professionals interning in Mongolia’s wool and cashmere industry are sending a clear message: they want to work for businesses that respect human rights and protect the environment. In a resource-scarce sector like textiles, their voices are shaping the future of the industry. ?? As Mongolia’s second-largest export sector after the extractive sector, wool and cashmere production has inevitable impacts on people and the planet. But some companies are showing that responsible business is possible – by embracing more sustainable and rights-respecting practices. This video was developed with the support of the European Union-funded #AgentsOfChange project, in collaboration with the Mongolian Sustainable Cashmere Platform. #BizHumanRights #BHRandEnvironment #BHRplusE
