As professionals, we know that California offers families raising children with disabilities a variety of funding options beyond private health insurance—programs like?Medi-Cal,?Regional Centers,?the Self-Determination Program, and more. Yet every day, we meet parents who remain unaware of these resources and/or if they are eligible. One of the most frequent questions we hear is: "How do we pay for it all?"?Let's work together to bridge the knowledge gap and ensure that the families we serve have access to the benefits they're entitled to. Feel free to share this resource with parents and caregivers who could benefit. ?? Thanks to Aaron Feinberg for a lively chat with Undivided CEO Seth Besse. Check out their thoughts around curiosity, caregivers, and kite surfing ??????????♂?!
My guest today on the Trail Breaker Podcast is Seth Besse, CEO of Undivided, a former junior world champion windsurfer, and a perpetual explorer of what’s around the next corner. We talked about how Undivided provides an entire support system for parents raising kids with disabilities; how dyslexia and ADHD has influenced his personal, professional, and parenting path; and why waiting until you feel qualified is a good way to go nowhere. Building an innovation hub to transform the developmental and mental health of 10MM+ kids and families by 2028 ?? ??
I want one place to look up all the amazing people who are working to help kids and families thrive. Does it exist? If not, I have a wacky idea. Let's combine two old school tools to build it out: Chain letter + online directory Sounds ridiculous and dated but why not. Here's what I'm thinking. We build a simple directory where orgs can submit info on their work as well as their social handles. In order for them to get published in the directory they have to follow at least 5 orgs in the directory on these orgs prefered socials. This way we get some pre-internet virality going and more importantly innovators can take a small step in helping and connecting with other innovators. Use the ?? emoji if you think it's too old timey of an idea. Use the ?? emoji if you think we should give it a shot. And definitely open to other approaches here. Just want to see this come to life asap.

Last week, I had the privilege of attending Behavioral Health Tech 2024. This year, it was fantastic to see the inclusion of so many companies focused on IDD and Autism. There several insightful panels, including one on "Opportunities and Challenges for Innovative Technology in Autism Care." Rebecca Warnken Renee Schneider, Ph.D. Robin Ann McIntosh Hearing directly from parents during these discussions was a powerful reminder of why Undivided.io exists. Time and again, parents shared the familiar sentiment that getting a diagnosis for their child left them feeling like, "There is no handbook," or, "No one to guide you through all of it." These words ring true for so many families, and it's exactly why we're here—to be that guide, that handbook, the key resource parents need to navigate the complex systems of care. Undivided.io is committed to supporting every parent on this journey. PS: Since TSA Cares came up during the discussion and with many of us preparing to travel for Thanksgiving, check out our travel tips here: https://lnkd.in/gJDaTTw3 #BehavioralHealthTech #AutismCare #Undivided

Yesterday was International Sign Language Day (or the International Day of Sign Languages), so we wanted to take the opportunity to celebrate in sign! From United Nations , they share: "The International Day of Sign Languages is a?unique opportunity to support and protect the linguistic?identity and cultural diversity of all deaf people and other sign language users. During the?2024 celebration, the world will once again highlight the unity generated by sign languages. World leaders and other government officials are?invited?to sign this year’s theme “Sign up for Sign Language Rights” in their national sign language. As we approach the 20th anniversary of the?UN?Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities?(CRPD), adopted in December 2006, let us strive towards a better implementation of the CRPD at the national level through the linguistic human rights of deaf people.?Sign up for sign language rights by working with your local and national associations to announce the achievement of a concrete goal for deaf communities today. According to the World Federation of the Deaf, there are more than 70?million deaf people worldwide. More than 80% of them live in developing countries. Collectively, they use more than 300 different sign languages."...The?Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities?recognizes and promotes the use of sign languages. It makes clear that sign languages are equal in status to spoken languages and obligates states parties to facilitate the learning of sign language and promote the linguistic identity of the Deaf community. The UN General Assembly?has proclaimed 23 September as the International Day of Sign Languages?in order to raise awareness of the importance of sign language in the full realization of the human rights of people who are deaf." ???? https://lnkd.in/gVeRESW9 #ASL #SignLanguage #DeafRights #UN #InternationalSigningDay #UndividedApp

We know how much effort it takes to get a child’s IEP just right, but if it’s not being followed or doesn’t reflect their current needs, it’s not doing its job. The fall IEP check-in is where we review key parts of our children’s IEPs to see if they are actually getting everything that’s been written, or if any adjustments are necessary. Check out this week’s newsletter for expert tips from education advocates when it comes to checking in with your IEP team this fall! https://lnkd.in/gNguUrr2 #SpecialEducation #IEP #IEPs #SpecialNeeds #SpecialNeedsParenting #UndividedApp
