?? Preceptor Spotlight: Jenna Thompson, FNP-C ?? We’re thrilled to highlight Jenna, a preceptor whose commitment to patient care and student education makes a lasting impact on everyone she works with! ?? ?? Student Nomination Highlight: "Jenna has been an absolute star this summer for clinical!.. She gave wonderful care to her patients and taught me so much more than I could ever have hoped for. It was a wonderful experience working with her, and I can’t thank her enough for everything!" ?? Preceptor Q&A: Q: What have been some of your most rewarding experiences as a preceptor? A: "As a preceptor, I truly enjoy watching each student grow in their clinicals. By the time they are done with their clinical rotation, their confidence level in their own skills, assessments, plans, and documentation have grown. I love working on each student's weakness and seeing it become a strength by the end of clinicals." Q: What advice do you have for students during their clinical placements? A: "Get as much experience as you can! Do not be afraid to go in and see patients and make diagnoses and plans, as this is the time you have a preceptor guiding you along the way and there to support you. This will allow you to become comfortable with the uncomfortable! Do not be afraid to ask questions! I am 7 years into my practice and still ask questions." Thank you, Jenna, for your dedication to mentoring future providers and for being such an incredible example of compassionate care! ?? #PreceptorSpotlight #UNDproud #UNDCNPD #FutureClinicians #NursePractitioner #HealthcareEducation

?? Preceptor Spotlight: Tamera Ostenaa, APRN, C-NP ?? Preceptors like Tamera are invaluable in shaping the next generation of healthcare providers. Her dedication to learning and teaching is truly inspiring! ?? ?? Student Nomination Highlight: "Tamera is a wonderful educator, she truly wants the students that follow with her to learn and get the most out of the clinical experience. Each day, she is asking what she could do better to best help me learn and is willing to take the additional time to allow me to chart, do assessments and skills... I've learned so much from her in my short time and hope to one day be as great of a provider as her!" ?? Preceptor Q&A: Q: What do you enjoy most about being a preceptor? A: "I consider myself a lifelong learner and firmly believe we all "learn something new every day". Some of my most educational moments come from precepting others because when they learn something new, I usually do too... I love watching where the students end up and following their career paths. A few former students are now trusted colleagues who I refer patients to!" Q: What advice would you give students in their clinicals? A: "I would tell students to trust the process and to come to clinicals every day ready to learn, try something new, and sometimes feel uncomfortable. Also, do not be afraid to admit when you do not know something. Look up the answer and keep going! Nobody knows everything – I would be afraid if you did! Do not be afraid to ask questions, and remember, we have all been there, we know what you are going through!" Thank you, Tamera, for your dedication to student learning and for the incredible example you set as a provider and mentor! ?? #PreceptorSpotlight #UNDproud #UNDCNPD #LifelongLearner #NursingMentorship #FutureClinicians #HealthcareEducation Sanford Health

?? Preceptor Spotlight: Kristen Gourneau, NP ?? Preceptors play a crucial role in shaping the future of healthcare, and Kristen is a shining example of dedication and excellence in education. ?? Student Nomination Highlight: "When I began my clinical rotations, she showed me the processes and procedures she has developed over the years for managing her patients that thoroughly impressed me. She completes her review of the patient very consistently so that each individual is engaged in the process of their care... She engaged me as a student, from the day I started my rotation with her. She allowed me to find my rhythm and develop my own stride with patients. I watched and learned by tagging along with her and other providers and I decided that Kristen, had a style that had more patient engagement and I am going to mimic that in my practice." ?? Preceptor Q&A: Q: What do you enjoy most about being a preceptor? A: "The most rewarding part of being a preceptor is seeing the growth in the student’s knowledge and skills and seeing their confidence grow overtime. The educational benefit of having a student is that they help you stay up to date on the newest guidelines and recommendations." Q: What advice would you give students in their clinicals? A: "My advice to get the most out of your preceptorship is to be hands-on with your learning and ask questions. I learned best by being active in the patient’s physical assessment & task performed and by asking questions and, contributing to medical decision making, and participating in patient education. " Thank you, Kristen, for your unwavering commitment to both patient care and student education! ?? #PreceptorSpotlight #UNDproud #HealthcareHeroes #NursingMentorship #FutureClinicians #Nursing #UNDCNPD
