An update from Washington, DC... UND won 1st Place in the FAA Data Challenge! ???? Huge congratulations to Caroline Kelley, Andie Akenson, Zach Hoff, and their faculty advisor Brandon Wild! The UND team will take home a prize of $25,000 for the University #UNDproud Other finalist teams competing were from Embry-Riddle, University of Texas – Austin, University of North Texas, Drexel University, Oregon State University, Binghamton University, and Texas A&M University. Join us in congratulating our February CFI of the Month ?? Colin Nugent | CFI | CFII San Diego, CA Colin Nugent is an exceptional flight instructor. I had the privilege of having him as my instructor for the 222 flight course, which was particularly challenging for me. Throughout the course, Colin was not only patient but also genuinely invested in helping me grasp the material. His positive attitude and enthusiasm for my success were evident every time we flew together. He didn’t just aim for me to complete the course or pass my stage check—he truly wanted me to become the best and safest pilot I could be. Colin consistently went above and beyond the standard lesson requirements, always making himself available for questions outside of flight lessons. His expertise was extensive, and if he didn’t immediately have an answer, he would quickly find one and get back to me. If I ever need a coverage instructor, Colin is always the first I ask. I've flown with several instructors at UND, but none can even come close to compare to the incredible support and guidance Colin provides in his instruction. In February, we had the privilege of hearing from Kenyatta Ruffin, a former F-16 fighter pilot, White House Fellow, and now captain at United Airlines. ?? In celebration of Black History Month, Kenyatta Ruffin joined Dean Kraus for a fireside chat discussing his journey and a message to "Aim High".
