?? AACOM is excited to introduce the inaugural cohort of our Graduate Medical Education (GME) Development Fellowship, developed in partnership with the University of North Carolina Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research! ?? This 10-month program brings together 32 fellows dedicated to expanding GME opportunities, particularly in community-based and underserved areas. Through expert-led sessions, hands-on projects and collaboration with national leaders, fellows will gain the skills needed to advance medical education and healthcare access where it is needed most. ???New APRN report released Sheps Health Workforce conducted a study on the North Carolina Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) workforce with support from the North Carolina Board of Nursing. The study team, Erin Fraher, Connor Sullivan, Catherine Moore, Tony Kane, Andy Knapton, Lorinda Coombs, and Evan Galloway used NC licensure data from the NCBON to describe the demographic, education, practice, and geographic characteristics of Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs), Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), and Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) in North Carolina from 2013 to 2022. The report, ?????????? ???????????????? ???????????????? ???????????????? ???????????????????? ????????????: ?? ???????????? ???? ?????? ???????????????? ???????????????? ???????????????????? ?????????? ?????????????????? ???? ?????????? ????????????????, details the findings of the study. The information generated from the study will help policy makers and nurse leaders make critical decisions about the future education, regulation, and deployment of the APRN workforce in North Carolina’s rapidly changing health care system. A reminder: I am excited to announce this year's Robert L. Kane Memorial Lecture! The 2024 Lecturer is Sheryl Zimmerman a Distinguished Professor of Social Work and Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Zimmerman is also the Co-Director of the Program on Aging, Chronic Illness, and Long-Term Care at the University of North Carolina Sheps Center for Health Services Research. Dr. Zimmerman is the Executive Director of the national Center for Excellence in Assisted Living. She is internationally recognized as a leader in long-term care research and pragmatic and clinical trials. Dr. Zimmerman will present on a timely topic: "Green House Nursing Homes: More Than a Promising Innovation" on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 3:00PM-4:30PM CST/4:00PM-5:30PM EST. Joining Dr. Zimmerman are Susan Ryan, CEO of the Center for Innovation: The Green House Project and Pioneer Network and Melissa Schneider of Episcopal Homes of Minnesota. They will describe Green House homes, research on care and outcomes, and the future of Green House homes in the U.S. and abroad.
