Great time at the Gulfood Green's first Green Shoots Stage in #Dubai ?? – here's a wrap up of my key takeaways from this #inspiring event! 1. Innovation ? & Challenges ???♂?: Good discussion on the challenges the plant-based food sector is facing today, but not forever. Unlike #tech, #food #investments take time but yield longer-lasting returns. A powerful reminder that patience in this space pays off. 2. ??For R&D & Innovators: One clear message was get out of the lab and talk to your customers! It’s tough to hear "it won’t work," but perseverance and listening to the market are key to success. Stay resilient! 3. ??Exclusivity, yes or no? Exclusivity can be a barrier to development and progress but can (in some instances) be beneficial when planning an exit. A thoughtful strategy ensures all parties benefit 4?. ?Exits: The word “exit” continues to feel misplaced for me. Plant-based isn’t tech. As we reshape the food system, maybe "profit with #purpose" is a more fitting goal, attracting the investors with likeminded goals. ?.. thoughts? 5. ??Showstopper: Shout out to Luiza Villela and unClassic Foods for her incredible mushroom nuggets, and IP boosting protein content. Hearing that 120T of mushrooms are being produced in Abu Dhabi’s desert ??goes to show, Mushrooms can provide a stable food source in all climates! Keep going, Luiza!
