Shout out to Foundation superstar Ronda Manuel for her great work with the Shuford Program! #teamcarolina #onecarolina #goheels
One of the extraordinary things about the Shuford Program is the way it creates opportunities for students to build authentic, lasting connections. That’s especially true for students who take on leadership roles as TAs, student workers, or serving as members of the Shuford AMs. And we do mean serving, because, make no mistake, our AMs put in the work!??? ? From planning and hosting major events like Family Weekend, Open Houses, and Shuford at the Blue Zone, to being the boots on the ground at every Shuford program event, their contributions are invaluable.? ? One way we show appreciation is that they get first dibs on our Experience trips. This year, we took 10 AMs to Washington, DC for an unforgettable Winter Break experience/ career-focused adventure!?Did we mention DC had a major snowstorm on what should have been the second day of our trip?? ?? ??? ? ? Workshop with Kristen Shattuck at Careerstone, diving into workstyles and personality habits. ? Visit to Grassroots Analytics, founded by UNC grad Daniel Hogenkamp, whose business is thriving in the political strategy space. ? Meeting with Board member Amanda Marshall, who leads two incredible nonprofits: Fair Chance, improving outcomes for community-based organizations, and F4F, a pandemic-born initiative now run by student groups delivering fresh food to families in need. ? Stop at Malai Ice Cream, founded by UNC alum Pooja Bavishi. Her Indian-inspired ice cream flavors made for a delicious pause in the day. ? Conversation with Jim Tanner of Tandem Sports. Jim is a top sports agent representing legends like Tim Duncan and Steph Curry, who’s built his success on authentic relationships.? ? ? UNC bball watch party/employer panel featuring leaders in real estate (Anne-Marie Finnell, Kelly Lee), wealth management (Eleanor Maguire), and investing Alex Marshall, Walker Helvey). Shout out to Daryl M. Davis, film producer, investor, and startup advisor, for joining us! ? And a special thank you to our amazing, uber-talented VP of Development Ronda Manuel! We could not have done this without you! ? Even with a winter storm cutting our trip short, we made meaningful connections that will last far beyond DC. And somehow, while riding the coach back to the hotel, we all squeezed around a 6" phone screen to catch THAT Superbowl performance—final verdict? They’re not like us! #TheShufordPrograminEntrepreneurship #uncchapelhill #ConnectionsMadeHere #Entrepreneurship #Networking #studententrepreneur

It’s always a good way to spend the day with UNC Arts and Sciences Foundation colleagues at a staff retreat halfway through the academic and fiscal year. We discussed organizational changes and strategy, preliminary campaign priorities of the College, talent management updates, the Foundation’s upcoming big milestone 5??0?? birthday, and more. We had some fun and laughed more than a little bit too. UNC College of Arts and Sciences Dean Jim White joined us over lunch to discuss his priorities (and hop in this picture - where’s the Dean?)!
