?? Meet the Team! ?? Richard Mora, one of our Executive Producers, is a father of four, a Vietnam veteran, and a retired Silicon Valley CFO. Rich was named “IPO Man” by CFO Magazine after completing his fourth consecutive IPO. As a Santa Clara University alumnus, he was inducted into SCU’s IPO Hall of Fame. In 2000, he founded the Mora Family Endowment for Hispanic Women at SCU. Rich’s deep friendship with Francisco Jiménez began in 2000 at SCU after Francisco published his first book, The Circuit. Rich joined our team because of his respect for Francisco and their similar life journeys. The Unbroken Sky always moves Rich to tears because it takes him back to his own childhood in the fields and the hardships of immigrants pursuing a better life in America. I am pleased that The Circuit Graphic Novel has been chosen for inclusion in the Society of Illustrators Original Art Show. The Society of Illustrators, in NYC, hosts a juried annual art show featuring children’s book illustrators selected from a wide variety of publishers. The competition is strong. In addition, Celia Jacobs, the illustrator, will receive the prestigious Founders Award.

?? Meet the Team! ?? Josef Manuel Liles, Ph.D., one of our associate producers, is the Director of Prospect Management and Analytics at Santa Clara University. He also serves on the board of Somos El Poder, where he proudly teaches classes on prospect research and consults with Latinx-led nonprofits on how to scale their fundraising programs. For Josef, one of the greatest privileges of being at SCU is having had the opportunity to get to know Francisco Jimenez. While Dr. Jimenez's stories of perseverance and triumph are inspiring, they are all the more impactful once you experience Dr. Jimenez's kindness and humility in person. This motivated Josef to become involved with bringing his stories to the screen, with the hope that more film and episodic series projects will develop in the near future. Josef's greatest joy is being the father to Guadalupe (Lupita) Tonantzin Casta?eda-Liles, an aspiring psychiatrist focused on supporting youth, particularly Latina girls. It touched him deeply that Lupita had a role in a pivotal classroom scene in The Unbroken Sky. ?? Meet the Cast! ?? We knew that Luis Fernandez-Gil would be our “Papá” within moments of his audition. Born in Spain to Mexican and Cuban parents, Luis really connected with the immigrant experience. With over 120 credits, his films include “Jack and Jill,” “Horse Girl,” “Ride The Eagle” and “Angels & Demons,” as well as television shows including “The Mentalist,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and “Mayans MC” amongst many others. He is also very well known within the Mexican wrestling community for his characters Dario and Antonio Cueto on the professional wrestling television series “Lucha Underground” and his current Cesar Duran character on Major League Wrestling. Here’s what Luis had to say about The Unbroken Sky… I came in with zero expectations but then, once I was involved in the project, I realized that whatever expectations I might have had, everything that happened exceeded them. As an immigrant, I fully empathized with the struggles of finding a better future for you and your loved ones in a new land. The fact that Francisco Jiménez visited the set was a dream come true. With a couple of words, he was able to open me up emotionally and become Papá. This project opened my vulnerability and made me feel even prouder of my roots. I realized that, no matter the country one comes from, we Latinos share similar ethical codes and have a unique camaraderie and generosity that make us who we are. Every single screening has been deeply emotional – everyone ends up in tears and willing to immediately share their own experiences and vulnerabilities. I feel this movie goes beyond the story itself. It makes people reflect on the things we should all change to improve humanity. Plus it’s an emotional trip to our own youth and a flashback to the way we were raised, no matter where we come from. As for myself, I honestly don’t think my contribution made any difference. I was just a grain of rice in the paella.
