We are thrilled to share some exciting news! Airbnb has awarded Unbound Now a $50,000 grant to support our critical work serving survivors of human trafficking. This generous contribution will directly impact our advocacy efforts, ensuring survivors receive the resources, care, and support they need to rebuild their lives. ? Airbnb representative's Ricco Garcia and José Luis Briones recently visited our Austin office, where they had the opportunity to meet our dedicated advocates and learn firsthand about the work we do every day. They saw the impact of their gift in action—supporting survivors through emergency response, case management, and vital resources such as safe housing, transportation, and trauma-informed care. ? This grant is more than just funding—it is a powerful statement of support for the survivors we serve and a call to action for other companies to follow Airbnb’s lead. With these funds, we can continue to walk alongside survivors on their journey to healing while working to prevent exploitation in our communities. ? TCSO's Human Trafficking Task Force (HTU) joined our partners and other anti-trafficking organizations at yesterday's 5 Stones Summit. This event featured several panels to raise awareness about human trafficking and the resources available to survivors. Fort Worth Mayor Pro Tem Gyna Bivens, Chief Neil Noakes of Fort Worth Police Department, and Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn gave opening remarks. Commander Turner offered insight into how trafficking investigations are conducted, from first contact with a trafficker or victim to prosecution.?With assistance from other panel members, they educated the audience about tackling human trafficking through education. For example, they highlighted the importance of educating boys from a young age not to purchase sex. Through the investigative process, we are also able to learn?from traffickers what their motivations were, as well as provide them services. One such program is MASE (Men Against Sexual Exploitation), hosted by Ty Bowden of the Net. This non-profit uses education to prevent perpetrators?from re-offending. As Human Trafficking Awareness Month, January brings awareness to the reality of human trafficking and provides support to survivors. During their January operations, TCSO's Human Trafficking Unit (HTU) made 12 arrests and offered resources to 11 victims. We partner with other local law enforcement agencies (Fort Worth Police Department, Arlington PD, Mansfield Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, & Unbound Now) to form the North Texas Trafficking Task Force. Thanks to their collaborative efforts, the task force made 473 arrests related to human trafficking in 2024.
