?? On this 43rd anniversary of Unbound’s founding, we remember in prayer and gratitude Archbishop Emeritus James P. Keleher, who died Nov. 9 at the age of 93. ?? Archbishop Keleher served as archbishop of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas from 1993 until 2005. In 1997, he sponsored a child, Jose in Honduras, for our 100,000th sponsorship. Archbishop Keleher’s steadfast support had a profound impact on our work and our ability to connect sponsors in the U.S. with children, young adults and elders around the world. From our founding to the present day, the Unbound community has partnered with over a million sponsored individuals and families on their paths out of poverty. ?? We’re deeply thankful for the life and ministry of Archbishop Keleher, who helped make this outreach possible, and to all those who have walked with us and the families in our programs since 1981. Pictured in these photos from Unbound's archives are the family of Archbishop Keleher's sponsored child, a photo of Archbishop Keleher holding a profile featuring a friend, and co-founder Bob Hentzen presenting Archbishop Keleher with Unbound's own Pilgrimage of Faith award in gratitude for his support.

?? Over the weekend, Super Typoon Mani-yi, known locally by the name Pepito, made landfall in the Philippines during what has already been an incredibly devastating typhoon season for the island nation. In a statement, Ashley Hufft, Unbound’s president and CEO, said, “We are working to gather information as our local teams mobilize to assess the situations in their communities, not only to ensure families served by Unbound’s programs can meet their immediate needs for food, shelter and medical care, but also to disburse emergency funding to families whose lives, homes and communities have been impacted by the storm.” Unbound will reach out to you directly if your sponsored friend has been severely impacted. Please allow time for our staff in the region to secure their families and visit the sponsored members. In the meantime, here are three things you can do to help: ?? Join us in prayer for all those in the Philippines who have lost their lives, those who are injured, and those whose homes have sustained damage. ?? Visit Unbound.org/Profile to ensure your contact information is up to date. ?? Make a gift to support families in the Unbound program during times of crisis at Unbound.org/Disaster. Thank you for generously walking with families on their paths out of poverty.

?? Education changes lives. In Uganda, Unbound is training mothers in climate-smart farming and sustainable practices that allow them to feed their families and build sustainable incomes. Nakayenga, pictured here in blue and white, functions as the chair of the “Together We Stand” group. "The dream I have on my heart is to see everyone being developed so that when you visit their homes, you see that they have gotten to a very good place," she said. Members of the group now envision a brighter future for their children and community. ?? Read how education and empowerment are rewriting stories of hope in Uganda. https://lnkd.in/gMYBhFuZ

?? Today, on World Diabetes Day, we’re celebrating the ways in which Unbound supporters are improving the lives of a special group of elders in the Philippines on their paths to better, healthier futures. In 2023, Unbound launched a groundbreaking diabetes care program in the Philippines. Nenita, pictured here at her home in the Philippines, previously suffered from dizziness, stomach pain and fainting spells, and now receives medicine and regular checkups. “Without this program, I might never be able to take good care of myself and control my diabetes. Having maintenance medicines is an expensive thing for me because I don’t have a source of income. That’s why I am very thankful ...” Unbound is always innovating new ways to provide whatever assistance is needed so individuals can build their self-directed paths out of poverty. Did you know about this special program? Learn more at Unbound.org/Diabetes and sound off in the comments with your thoughts! ?? #worlddiabetesday #diabetesawareness

?? This World Diabetes Day, stand with us in supporting elders living with diabetes. ?? Unbound is the only major U.S.-based organization that offers sponsorship of elders in other countries so they can receive the financial assistance and community support they need. Now, through our partnership with Chronic Care International, we’re innovating new ways to address the healthcare needs of elders with diabetes in the Philippines. With the latest phase of this program, research will even explore whether being a sponsor could positively impact health outcomes. This unique program pairs sponsors with diabetes with elders with the same condition, delivering crucial health resources to elders and analyzing the self-reported health metrics of sponsors. ? This World Diabetes Day, visit Unbound.org/Diabetes to learn more about Unbound and Chronic Care International's work. #worlddiabetesday #diabetesawareness
