Daily ?? to contemplate today, courtesy of Brianna Wiest: Self-esteem is believing you are worthy of loving and being loved despite not being supremely, completely "good" all of the time. ?? Happiness is a product of how you cope with your problems and whether or not you see them as the opportunities they are. ?? Emotional Intelligence is the ability to feel, express, and interpret your feelings productively. ?? Which hit of the above resonated with you the most? ?? PS - If you haven't purchased Brianna's books, we at Unapologetic highly recommend you check them out!

In this past week, we've seen emotional intelligence on high display while working with our clients. It made us pause and realize the value in sharing with our followers not only what emotionally intelligent leaders DO do, but also the things we see them NOT do. ?? Below are 5 things that those who excel in emotional intelligence do NOT do: 1) They don't assume that the way they think and feel about a situation or a person, is the way it is in reality. They recognize that their emotions have to do with their own issues or past experiences. ?? 2) They don't allow their fear to dissuade them from the path they are on. To them, fear means you're moving towards something, and action is always the right path. ?? 3) Instead of suppressing their feelings to the point of making them non existent, they withhold their emotional responses until they are in an environment appropriate to express them. ? 4) They know feelings won't defeat them. They've developed stamina and awareness to know that feelings aren't reality and that they are temporary. Ultimately, they know not to act on feelings alone. ?? 5) They don't solely surround themselves with those who are similar to them or those who have the same strengths as them. Instead they focus on building teams and cross-functional partners who have diversity in their skill sets and they way they think. ?? #leadership #trust #executivecoaching. #emotionalintelligence #action #professionalcoaching

Assumptions... "a thing that is accepted as true, or certain to happen, without proof". They're helpful in many ways. They help us be unconsciously proactive and keep us "safe" in many ways we don't even realize... BUT like many things, they're helpful until they're not. They can turn dangerous quickly. It's easy to find yourself on autopilot, instead of challenging your assumptions where necessary. In practice, the best way to stay on your toes is to ask questions. In the wise words of Ted Lasso, "Be Curious". Please share an example in the comments- when were you reminded to not necessarily trust your assumptions?

Have you considered how often you expand your mind to the consideration of the word "and" instead of "or"? ?? Let me explain in a real-time business case scenario... instead of deciding to show up to a cross-functional meeting with the intent to have your voice heard at all costs and not leaving the meeting until your demands are met, what if you planned to have your voice heard AND ask questions to better understand why the organization is in the current position? ?? Could you find a place where alternative options could be opened up, simply by considering how you can achieve an AND conclusion, not allowing a situation to be succumbed to be one OR the other? Both "parties" leaving with a win instead of someone losing. ?? Imagine the legacy you can leave behind in your organization by approaching the hardest conversations and the most challenging obstacles by coming at them with an "AND" state of mind. ?? #legacyleadership #winwin #professionalcoaching #executivecoaching #professionaldevelopment #emotionalintelligence

Do you pay attention to reoccurring messages that cross your path? We don't believe in coincidences. One phrase that keeps coming up to both our clients and to our team members is "be a leader among leaders". Far too often folks consider their knowledge base as a prerequisite to gaining such stature in their organization. The truth couldn't be more disconnected from intellectual knowledge. The answer lies in your emotional intelligence. This we know. But how do we SHOW our EQ in real time? Consider your ability to be the following: ??? Assertive, NOT aggressive (speak your mind, but don't interrupt others) ?? Humbly confident, NOT egotistical (demonstrate your knowledge of your strengths AND your weakness areas) ?? Inspirational, NOT Idealistic (mindset is everything, but uphold realism without perfection... how? Focus on what you CAN control) ?? Empathetic, NOT sympathetic (put people first while remaining accountable to the mission) These are our top 4 traits of EQ - what are yours? #trust #leadership #emotionalintelligence #executivecoaching #growth #mindset

The Power of Team Reflections. We're coming up on that time of year to reflect on the previous year. Have you considered the opportunity of coming together as a team to complete a year end review? ? Not only would each member feel valued for their thought leadership, the exercise is also a great opportunity to practice conceptual strategic thinking as a team. ?? With various perspectives on what went well, what didn't go well, what activities brought the most value, what activities weren't the best use of time, etc., the possibilities here are endless! ?? We'd love to hear from our followers, have you implemented similar team reflection exercises? What was the outcome? #thoughtleadership #thepowerofreflections #executivecoaching #trust #teambuilding #strategic

Impact and Intention – they go hand in hand.?When a decision is made, there is an intention at the root and an impact made.?Simple, right? ?? ? When we are the ones who decide and carry out on an act, we know the (positive) intention we had in mind.?But how often do we expand our consideration to the IMPACT we made? That impact is what others feel far beyond the intention you had.? ?? How much more valued would our team members feel if we came at missteps by working to heal the impact we made instead of merely ensuring they understand the intention we had? ?? #Emotionalintelligence #leadership #trust #executivecoaching #professionaldevelopment #culturebuilding

We know first hand how real and sometimes debilitating Imposter Syndrome can be. It's a topic we discuss with almost every client we serve, and we would bet that most of our audience likewise deals with IS from time to time... We want to offer a simple yet effective word to commit to.... Surrender. Let go of all doubts, anxieties, insecurities, and fears in order to trust fully in the path you're on. It might not make sense right now, and that's ok. Surrender: ...that you're in the right place, at the right time, for a purpose (a purpose that only YOU, uniquely can serve). ...that you're going to move forward courageously, even if you doubt yourself. ...to act. Messy, imperfect actions, with humility, grace, and confidence. #impostersyndrome #professionalcoaching. #executiveleadership #progressoverperfection. #leadership #takeaction
