On #IWD, I was glad to connect with Voice of America to launch UN Women's report: Women's rights in review 30 years after Beijing. In 1995, the world made a promise: women’s rights are human rights. The promise of equality made by world leaders to all women and girls in the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action was bold, it was historic, it was revolutionary.?It set out a roadmap for us to follow, and sparked extraordinary changes in the lived realities of women and girls. Thirty years later, the world is more equal for women and girls than ever before. And yet, progress so far has been too slow, too fragile, too uneven. Most importantly, this progress is not guaranteed. The world has the roadmap. What we need now is acceleration—because gender equality delayed is opportunity denied.
