Time moves forward. So should our rights. This #IWD2025, we refuse to stand by as women’s rights are rolled back. Around the world, women and girls are facing growing threats to their freedoms—from the denial of education to gender-based violence and restrictions on bodily autonomy. We #MarchForward—for equality, for justice, for our future. Join us in taking a stand. Happy International Women’s Day! ?? Thirty years ago, the world made a bold commitment to gender equality through the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. Since then, women have broken barriers, reshaped policies, and ignited global movements. From boardrooms to sports fields, parliaments to protest lines, women have led the charge for change. Today, we celebrate their achievements—the pioneers who refused to accept the status quo, the activists who fought for equality, and the trailblazers who continue to open doors for future generations. But while we’ve come far, we are not where we should be. For millions of women worldwide, equality remains out of reach. This International Women’s Day let’s do more than celebrate—let’s turn promises into progress and #MarchForward: For ALL Women and Girls.

In the highlands of Malawi, a group of 30 women is leading a green revolution. Thanks to the Women’s Resilience to Disasters Program, implemented by UN Women and funded by the Australian Government, they’ve found a way to turn household waste into clean, sustainable fuel – biomass briquettes! For years, women like Regina Jalasi relied on firewood, rising their health and environment. Now, with skills and support, they’re reducing deforestation, improving air quality, and building brighter futures for their families. Their success is growing, and with access to a briquette-making machine, they will be able to scale up and reach even more communities. This is the power of investing in women-led climate solutions. As we #MarchForward this International Women’s Day, we celebrate partnerships that empower women and create a more sustainable future. Thank you to the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade for supporting initiatives that drive real change, #ForAllWomenAndGirls. ??: UN Women/Faith Mvula #IWD2025 #WomensResilience #ClimateAction #AustralianAid https://lnkd.in/gF9xrSey

With the ongoing weather situation in Queensland and Northern NSW caused by Cyclone Alfred, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our International Women’s Day event at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre to Tuesday, 25 March 2025. The safety and well-being of our guests remain our highest priority, and our thoughts are with all those affected. We deeply appreciate your patience and understanding as we adapt to these circumstances. If you have already purchased a ticket to this event, your ticket has automatically been transferred. If this date is no longer suitable, please contact our team at [email protected].

The latest gender pay gap data from the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) reveals some progress—but also highlights ongoing challenges. On a positive note, 56% of employers improved their gender pay gap in the last 12 months. However, the report also uncovers a concerning reality: Australian women earn, on average, $28,425 less per year than men. As we #MarchForward towards gender equality, this data reminds us that while we’ve made strides, the journey is far from over. We must keep pushing for change and continue breaking down barriers to ensure equal and fair pay. What steps is your organisation taking to close the gender pay gap? Let’s keep this conversation going and work together to create lasting change.
