The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed?Hélène N'Garnim-Ganga of Chad as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in C?te d’Ivoire, with the host Government’s approval, on 24 November 2024. Ms. N’Garnim-Ganga brings more than 30 years of experience in development with a focus on institutional, operations, programme development and coordination. She most recently served as East Africa Regional Director for the Agence Fran?aise de Développement where she oversaw the agency’s work in eleven countries, after being the institution global director for Governance and Institutional Support. Prior to this, she held several leadership positions at the African Development Bank Group, including as General Counsel, Resident Representative in Mali and Coordinator of the Corporate Vice President’s office. She lived and worked in C?te d’Ivoire, Kenya, Mali, Tunisia, France and the United States. Ms. N’Garnim-Ganga holds a master’s degree from Harvard Law School as well as master’s degrees from Sorbonne Université and Paris-Pantheon-Assas University and successfully passed both the New York and the Paris Bar. Reaching an agreement at #COP29 was essential to keep the 1.5°C global warming limit alive. I had hoped for a more ambitious outcome – on both finance and mitigation – to meet the scale of the great challenge we face, but the agreement reached provides a base on which to build. It must be honoured in full and on time. I appeal to governments to do so, with urgency. I commend all the delegates, young people and civil society representatives who came to Baku to push for maximum ambition and justice. My message to them: Keep it up. The United Nations is with you. Our fight continues. And we will never give up.
