We are pleased to announce exciting developments at UMT's Neural Injury Center (NIC). Congratulations to Dr. Loyd, who has been appointed Center Director, and to Dr. Kittelson, who will serve as Associate Director for Research. In their new roles, Drs. Loyd and Kittelson will lead a $4.8M research project, funded by the Office of Naval Research, focused on studying the neural performance of Naval aviators. These changes and initiatives mark an important step forward for NIC, and we look forward to the impact of their leadership and groundbreaking work! Exciting advancements are being made at UMPT! ?? Our recent renovations to the UMPT Clinic include the expansion of what used to be a closed off treatment area. We’ve adopted a more open floor layout, better access to our waiting area, and more mat tables to better serve our client demographic. The more efficient use of our space allows us to better serve our clients, and facilitate even more learning opportunities for our students!
?? Congratulations to our UMPT faculty members, Dr. Kittelson and Dr. Loyd, on their well-deserved promotions this year! ?? We are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of their professional journeys at the Univ of Montana and are excited to see all the great things the future holds for them both. ?? We are thrilled to announce the new Co-Chairs & Program Director for the University of Montana School of Physical Therapy! ?? Our very own Dr. Sue Ostertag and Dr. Ryan Mizner have joined forces, and they are so excited to take on this leadership role, as well as support our students, staff, faculty, and drive the mission and vision of UMPT. They are replacing Dr. Brueilly who announced his decision this summer to step away from leadership and return to a faculty role. Dr. Ostertag has been with UMPT for almost 20 years and has served in a multitude of roles including Director of Clinical Education, Director of the Montana Geriatric Education Center, Director of the UMPT Clinical Services, and instructor across various courses (not limited to) neurological rehabilitation, geriatrics, clinical reasoning, and the importance and role of the interprofessional healthcare team. Dr. Mizner has been with UMPT for 15 years and has served as Director, Program Chair, and primary instructor in foundational courses including biomechanics, electro, and multiple musculoskeletal courses. Dr. Mizner is also seasoned clinical scientist, with over 100 peer-reviewed national presentations and 40 publications index on PubMed that have been cited nearly 6000 times during his career. Both of our chairs bring a wealth of knowledge, expertise, and passion to the program and we are SO excited to be moving forward under their leadership!
