关于我们
The Division of Environmental Health Sciences at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health focuses on environmental and occupational health concerns, from investigating hazards in our environment to establishing the basis for public health policy. Environmental health is focused on how the environment - where we live and work, what we eat, the air we breathe, etc. - impacts human health. The aim of our program is to improve the health of individuals and communities by conducting rigorous and collaborative research to identify risks, reduce hazards, and inform public health policies. We prepare future leaders through MPH, MS, and PhD degrees. Our areas of study include environmental chemistry, food safety, infectious diseases, environmental and occupational epidemiology, exposure sciences, global environmental health, industrial hygiene, injury and violence prevention, occupational and environmental health nursing, occupational and environmental medicine, and toxicology. We also offer a 4+1 combined undergraduate/graduate track, and a certificate program in American Indian Public Health and Wellness. Our graduates are leaders in the field, making a difference in protecting public health regionally, nationally, and around the globe in business and industry, education, state and federal government, healthcare, military services, public health organizations, and many other sectors.

Assistant Professor, Patricia Jewett, was featured in an article in Mad in America highlighting her study on the relationship between structural adversity and suicide/self-injury in minoritized youth. The study, published in Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior, found that structural adversity - such as food insecurity, housing instability, and parental incarceration - is strongly linked to suicide attempts, suicidal thoughts, and repeated self-injury among racially and ethnically minoritized youth. https://lnkd.in/gqFUD7_h

Read about the important work Dr. Matt Simcik is doing to control the spread of PFAs in water systems.
PFAS, or forever chemicals, have been so widely used, are so good at moving around, and are so durable that they’re now found virtually everywhere. That's a problem for health, especially in our drinking water. Find out how SPH Professor Matt Simcik is working to contain these dangerous chemicals here: https://bit.ly/4gDihNS
