We are excited to welcome our latest faculty member, Dr. Brandon Bordeau! Dr. Bordeau joined the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in December 2023 as an Assistant Professor. His research is focused on developing innovative antibody-based therapies, such as antibody drug complexes (ADCx) and antibody PROTAC conjugates. Prior to joining the University of Michigan, Dr. Bordeau received his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2020 from the University of Buffalo in Dr. Joseph Balthasar's lab, where he researched antibody-based therapies. Following his graduation, he remained at the University of Buffalo as a Research Assistant Professor until 2023. Recently, Abceutics, Inc., a company co-founded by Dr. Bordeau, was acquired?by Merck. Congratulations and welcome Brandon! https://lnkd.in/eCjWWmaF

关于我们
Pharmaceutical Sciences is a dynamic and interdisciplinary field that aims to integrate fundamental principles of physical and organic chemistry, engineering, biochemistry, and biology to understand how to optimize delivery of drugs to the body and translate this integrated understanding into new and improved therapies against human disease. At the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy, our internationally recognized PharmSci faculty contribute to the field through inquiry into the underlying mechanisms of drug interactions with the human body and development of advanced synthetic or biologically-derived materials that can modulate these interactions in pursuit of better and safer therapies and drug products. Students in our department learn the common language of pharmaceutical sciences through the rigorous core course-work in biopharmaceutics, drug transport, pharmacokinetics & pharmacodynamics and drug delivery systems. In addition we support individualized student development by tailoring the electives curriculum to specific student interests in cell and molecular biology, synthetic and macromolecular chemistry, chemical and biomedical engineering, materials science, physiology and pharmacology. Armed with a strong, interest-tailored foundation in basic and applied sciences, our students are well-positioned to become an integral part of our explorations and our discoveries.

Congratulations to Dr. Ashlee Brunaugh!
An Editorial Advisory Board member for AAPS PharmSciTech since 2022, meet Professor Ashlee Brunaugh from the University of Michigan. Dr. Brunaugh is an Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Michigan. She received both her PharmD and PhD from The University of Texas at Austin, College of Pharmacy. Her research lab at UM is focused on improving global access to safe and efficacious treatments for respiratory infections and diseases, which is achieved by 1) reducing cost of goods by improving efficiency of manufacturing and distribution of lung-targeted therapies; 2) promoting development of generic OINDPs; and 3) investigating the interplay between delivery system and the diseased respiratory environment by using?in silico,?in vitro, and?in vivo?tools to mitigate clinical failures. Prior to joining the faculty at UM, Dr. Brunaugh worked for the pharmaceutical start-up Via Therapeutics as a Senior Scientist and later Director of Strategies and Operations and founded the start-up CloXero Therapeutics. She has also worked as a pharmacist in a variety of patient-care settings, and she strives to integrate her prior industry and healthcare experiences in the development of pragmatic and readily implementable solutions to respiratory delivery challenges. Thank you for your expertise and guidance!
