This past week student leaders Abigail Schcolnik, Hannah Clyman and Dakota Gordon along with our Israel fellow Rotem attended the Hillel International Israel Summit ????. A few words from Dakota Gordon: My first Hillel International Israel Summit was an amazing experience! I had the chance to hear and learn from amazing speakers such as Dede Bandaid and Nitzan Mintz who are the artists behind the Kidnapped from Israel project which raise awareness around the world for the 240 innocent people who where abducted from Israel on October 7th. On top of this experience, I also had the chance to meet student leaders from Hillel programs around the world and gain new insight into how to better engage students on our campus. A huge yasher koach to our students who represented "The U" in Chicago this past week! ??????

Over MLK weekend, Jewish students from across Florida attended the first ever Florida Hillel Gathering to learn methods on engagement and event planning. Chair of Programing, Ethan Goetz shared his incredible experience and what he learned from the gathering. “Attending the Hillels of Florida Leadership Gathering in Orlando was an amazing experience. Having the ability to work with students from across the state allowed me to exchange insights on how each Hillel functions, expanding my perspective and sparking new ideas. This opportunity has given me valuable tools to enhance the Hillel experience at the University of Miami.” A special thank you Abigail Schcolnik, Ariella Green, Luke Cohen, Hannah Clyman and Lauren Dolson for representing UM Hillel at the gathering.

We were honored to welcome former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett to speak with our students and members of our community at the University of Miami. Bennett’s message of hope for Israel’s future, alongside his heartfelt call for the safe return of the hostages, deeply resonated with all of us. It was an incredible opportunity for our students to engage with such an influential leader and gain valuable insights into Israel’s challenges and aspirations. A special thanks to Abigail Schcolnik for acting as the moderator of the event. And shoutout to our talented photographers for capturing the event: Ariella Green, Akiva Elkin and Luke Cohen.
